A magical debut you're bound to love.,
By
This review is from: Bound To Love Her (Zebra Debut) (Paperback)
Everyone in Erin Chandler's world of present day Boulder, Colorado, knows that elves are found only in fairy tales and movies, right? Wrong! While walking her elderly neighbor's dog through the woods one night Erin discovers a dying man - a tall, buff, incredibly gorgeous, pointy-eared, dying man - who turns out to not be a man at all, but an elf!
The bond between Galan of Longtail Rock and the land that keeps him alive has been broken by the evil dark elf, Fellseth, and Galan is struggling for his last breath when Erin's touch inexplicably infuses him with energy and renews his life force. A life-giving bond between the two is created in that moment and neither of their lives will ever be the same. Erin finds herself in the midst of a community of elves struggling to hold on to their life-sustaining lands while battling the dark elf intent on killing them by stealing those lands and the humans who are unknowingly destroying the natural habitat that the elves have occupied for hundreds of years. Erin joins forces with Galen and the other good elves to defeat Fellseth but just when they think they have him outwitted, the dark elf sets his evil sights on Erin. It's a testament to Rose's superb writing skill that I was able to suspend belief and immerse myself completely in this fast-paced, delightful and emotionally satisfying, magical tale. The relationship between Galan and Erin is romantic and frequently poignant while at the same time sprinkled with the humor you would expect when bringing together a practical, independent, 21st century woman with a sexy, sensual, supremely confident elf who has been around for more than 250 years. The crisp dialogue kept me turning pages late into the night and whet my appetite for more elf tales from this gifted debut author.

really fell short of the mark for me,
This review is from: Bound To Love Her (Zebra Debut) (Paperback)
I was really disappointed with this book. I thought it had the potential to be very good but it definitely fell short. The basic storyline was very interesting and that was probably why I finished the book. I felt the author didn't expand on her characters or details enough to really grab me where I felt I was deeply immersed into the story. I kept thinking it would get better but it didn't. There are many other stories and authors out there that will do that so I had to rate this low. If you are looking for a
easy read were you are killing time then maybe this is a better choice. If you want to feel sucked into the story you are reading and involved with the characters then move on.

Easy Reading,
By Tez Miller (Victoria, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bound To Love Her (Zebra Debut) (Paperback)
By the title and brooding torso on the cover, you'd assume this is a bondage romance. Actually, it's a light paranormal romance. Kensington, what were you thinking?
I've never read/seen "The Lord of the Rings" and whatnot, so this was my introduction to elves. The ones living in Boulder, Colorado, don't all have pointed ears, though Galan of Longtail Rock does. Basically, the elves have close ties to the land, and they each have their own territory. This opens the way for social commentary involving the environment and real estate, so at least this novel has something to say - which a lot of stories don't. A New Age (read: hippie) shop employee, Erin Chandler finds Galan near death, attacked by the big baddie, Fellseth, who's nicked his land. Somehow giving him her 'energy', Erin saves Galan, but the action has somehow bonded them. Why do sparky women chase so-so men? Erin has an entertaining voice, though I dislike her stance on some issues. ("I personally believe depression is fifty percent nutrition and fifty percent mental habits." Bitch - what about crap genetics?) Galan may be good at making jewellery, but other than that he doesn't seem to have much going for him. Thus whatever Erin feels for him seems mostly superficial. His sense of humour only involves sex jokes, thus his comedy needs more variety. Is it any wonder that my favourite character is Kitty Girl? Erin's cat, abandoned whilst her owner is captured, somewhat appeals to me, but maybe that's because I'm a cat owner. It's easy reading, but not really my kind of thing. Fans of Tate Hallaway's novels should enjoy this. However, the author is a nifty person, so I'll still read her blog.

Light fun read,
By
This review is from: Bound To Love Her (Zebra Debut) (Paperback)
I enjoyed Esri Rose's "Bound to Love Her". It was an unique fun reading book, the author's first. The unique hook to the book is Galvan, our hero, is an elf. Not a lot of romance paranormals out there with elves. It was a nice change from the vampire/shapeshifters that are the norm.
I liked the characters and seeing how Erin and Galvan bonded, whether they wanted to or not and how she eventually came to care deeply for him. Enough on storyline. If you read books just for the heavily detailed sex scenes, this book isn't for you. There are sex scenes in the book and they light, leaving a lot to your imagination ... which is fine, it fit well with the rest of the story. In other words the sex scenes are there but not in your face sort of description. I'm glad I needed an extra $3.99 to make my order and picked up this book. I'm also glad I didn't read the reviews first, half of them were good the others so-so. If you're looking for a fun light book, with light sex scenes that isn't your usual vamps and such, give this book a try. I think you may enjoy it too.

Bonding With An Elf Makes You Needy,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bound To Love Her (Zebra Debut) (Paperback)
Bound to Love You has a very promising plot and some engaging characters. However, I felt the main character, Erin, fell short and the romance just felt fake and flat.
Rose did a great job on the elves and I found them all very realistic and likable, even Fellseth had his charming moments. Unfortuntely, Erin is not a very likeable character. It seems when Elves bond with humans it must also make them very needy. Erin had these emotional rollercoasters all through the book that centered mostly on her needing Galan. If Galan wasn't with her, she got weepy and would complain about how she needs him. I found Erin a weak character who needs her man to be emotionally strong. Another problem I had with the book is Galan and Erin's relationship. The book starts with Erin meeting Galan in a park and helping him by unwittingly bonding with him. She takes him back to her home, a strange man she met in a park at night, to help him. Within 36 hours Erin and Galan sleep together. Within 48 hours Erin cannot live without Galan because she will break down in tears if he is away from her. The book seems to leap from Erin not trusting Galan, to sleeping with him, to them loving each other without any substance between those leaps. When they do profess their love for each other, it felt like they were talking about the weather and not the grand confession it should of been. I believe the author tried to show how much Erin cares for Galan but ended up making Erin seem needy instead. Overall the book was decent that would of made a better paranormal fantasy then romance but it was a fast and slightly interesting read for a long day at work.

He followed me home...can I keep him?,
By Kelly (Fantasy Literature) (Columbia, MO United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Bound To Love Her (Zebra Debut) (Paperback)
If Esri Rose wonders whether her online ad, done in LOLcat style, was effective, she need wonder no longer. It had me laughing my you-know-what off. When I saw it, I knew I needed to give this book a try. I'm glad I did. _Bound to Love Her_ is a lot of fun.
The story begins when Erin, who works at a New Age store but is nonetheless a skeptic, finds a handsome man half-dead while on a hike. His name is Galan, and his story is almost unbelievable to Erin--he's an elf, and weakened by the dastardly deeds of a dark elf (dark elves are elves who feed off the negative energy released when wild land is destroyed by humans). Soon, though, Erin has no choice but to believe, because Galan needs Erin's energy in order to survive and fight back, and Erin too is in danger from Fellseth. Meanwhile, as the threat from Fellseth grows more dangerous, Erin and Galan begin to have feelings for each other. Their romance is sweet but poignant; they believe the relationship is doomed but hope desperately that it isn't. The secondary characters are delightful, especially Lily, the shop's owner; Jed, Erin's gamer-geek roommate; and Kutara, a domineering tech-savvy elf who's far more decent than her icy facade suggests. I hope Esri Rose writes more in this 'verse and revisits them. _Bound to Love Her_ is a fun, quick summer read at an excellent price, full of romance, humor, and suspense. Fans of paranormal romance and urban fantasy are likely to enjoy it.

Elf Romantic Fantasy,
By Babycakes (Houston, TX, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bound To Love Her (Zebra Debut) (Paperback)
I loved this book. It was sweet, romantic, funny, lighthearted, and imaginative. Despite reading many paranormal books, like vampires, werewolves, and time travel, I had never read an elf book before and enjoyed the concept. Like another reviewer, all the in-your-face New Age values (vegetarian-tree hugging-meditation, etc.) got a bit tiresome, but all of the characters were so likeable I did not care. A character in a book does not have to share all of my values and lifestyle to still be interesting and enjoyable. Also, I loved the discreet-but-sweet love scenes. I get weary of explicit sex scenes that go on for pages and pages; I mean, how many different ways can you describe all the things you can do to each other in bed? After a while they all sound the same. I hope to read more books by this talented, creative writer. More please, Esri!

A really good book! Fast paced, easy to read, sexy, funny and unique. Esri Rose has started a whole new world that includes humans, elves and some magic. Galen and Erin have the kind of relationship that keeps you reading to the very end.

Elves Rule!!,

Loved it. Throughly loved the romance story between Erin and Galan. This is only the second paranormal that I have read that had elves in it and it was great. If you like paranormal romance you owe it to yourself to check out the books by Ersi Rose. Glad I did and am off to read "Stolen Magic", the next one in this series.
