With all of the publicity going around for the 50 shades stuff, many people are getting a taste of what many considered taboo. I will say, I have yet to be able to sit through even the first book, but I will try just so that I know what everyone is going on about. What I wonder though is, Why do people see this as the start of something so huge that everyone wants to get in on it? Great erotica has been going on for years before that author probably even thought about writing that book. There are so many great authors who write so well, it doesn't even seem like erotica when you're reading it. I think the best authors are the ones who write so well, it sucks you into the story and doesn't let go til the end. That's what happened to me when I picked up this book.
My absolute favorite story- Spring Training by Donna George Storey
To give you a little taste about this story, this is how it should be, in my opinion. The first paragraph from Spring Training:
First Workout
I wish I'd never been with any other man but you."
"No, you don't."
Josh had a provocative habit of telling me what to think.
I rolled onto my stomach to look at him straight on. His eyes
were a bewitching velvety brown, the lashes as thick as the ones
you can buy at the drugstore.
"I do," I insisted.
"You don't," he repeated.
"I do. It's so damned hot with you. The others were just a
waste of time. Pathetic, really, what I thought sex was."
He smiled. "See, you have a point of comparison. Otherwise,
no matter how hot it was with me, you'd always wonder."
I love the idea of her man laying claim to every part of her body, to wipe out any memory of everyone else that she had ever been with. Makes my heart beat fast just to think about reading this story.
These stories struck a chord with me for some reason. I am not "into" the bondage scene but these were very intriguing stories. While I am not going to run out to the store and buy bondage equipment, I might run to the bookstore to find more books like this. Sexy stories with a hint of the unknown, because you don't know exactly how you will be affected by what you're reading. This is definitely a book that you need to read in the privacy of your own home, at least the first time you read it. And you will read it again....

This is a beautiful collection, possibly one of the best anthologies I have read! Yes I am aware that I often make such a claim but here it is due to the sheer beauty of the writing. Though, this should not come as a surprise when you note the sheer quality of the writers who have made contributions.
This Anthology offers 19 different stories which deal with aspects of lust and bondage within numerous ways. They are not entirely devoted to themes of BDSM. But deal and express various aspects of sex, sexuality and relationships.
This really is a wonderful collection and will become a favourite in the erotica genre.

Bound By Lust is a laudable, theme- and tone-varied anthology. Germain has brought together interesting, solid, and, in some cases, wonderful works.
A few stories didn't grab me, but that's because I generally dislike works written in the present tense - my preference for third-person omniscient POVs*, however, didn't prevent me from appreciating the craft of the authors who penned those present tense stories.
Worth owning, this.

Standout stories:
1.) "Reclaiming Spring" - Sommer Marsden: A couple work through painful memories by having sex. Strong emotional content to this one.
2.) "Being His B---h" - Janine Ashbless: A role play/"Pet Show" get a woman and her steampunk-loving companion all het up. Fun, lots-of-pizzaz work.
3.) "The Heart of Chaos" - Rachel Kramer Bussel: A couple's BDSM and performance art = emotional/personal boundaries breached. Interesting, different.
4.) "Brushstrokes" - Kristina Wright: Well-written piece about a couple with communication issues who confuse sex with love.
5.) "No Sleep" - Kristina Lloyd: Sex/BDSM buddies take their first steps towards limited coupledom. Solid work.
6.) "Crossing the Line" - Dominic Santi: A cross-dresser marries his dream girl. Solid work.
7.) "A Few Things to Pick Up on Your Way Home" - Andrea Dale: Fun, chatty tale about a couple's sex toy shopping.
8.) "Marcelle" - Alana Noël Voth: This is one of the best erotica stories I've ever read (and I've read - written - a lot).
"Marcelle" pushes boundaries, and may very well squick some generic sex-loving readers out, but its blend of emotion, personal darkness and light, punk/edgeplay sensibilities and John Water-esque sense of humor takes this work to a level rarely seen in this genre.
Fearless, gripping and inventive story.
9.) "Whippoorwill" - Teresa Noelle Roberts: Fun nature/spank work.
