I will come back to fully review the book - but I want others to not make the same mistake.

SCROLL ABOVE and make sure you have either the paperback or the hardback WITHOUT the parenthesis. There are 2 hardbacks - one normal version - and the other is the MINIATURE in size and length.

I am so frustrated I will have to resell this one myself or possibly pay return costs to Amazon.

I strongly recommend this book, especially if you are a person who cares for people around you. It is a book about managing life in a way that has been included in the Bible for Centuries, but if you do not believe in the Bible, well, it contains universal principles that anybody with common sense and an interest on having a life with himself or herself and in harmony with others (harmony probably is not the right word, but it is close enough). You need to know who you are, before you can help other people to define themselves, because as long as you do not know what your boundaries (who you are) are, you are just playing the victim and that is not a place for anybody, excellent book about taking resposibility of yourself and others in a responsable way. Read it and practice what you need to improve.
If we dated other people with this kind of practices, you would be able to know who the one is and potentially avoid desillusion and putting your money on lenghty therapies to find out what was wrong in the first place.

This is a great book which I often use as a reference in my pastoral counseling. Somehow Amazon has this book listed as the hardback edition of the book, but it is actually a MINIATURE GIFT EDITION. It's my fault for not reading the fine print, but if you want the full book, DON'T BUY THIS ONE. You can get the paperback edition which is the full book. Again, a great book, but Amazon is a little confusing here. Caveat emptor!

A very kind, down-to-earth book - the best kind of Christian counseling for managing relations, obligations, caring and abuse. Where religion commonly promotes unlimited demands on people, Cloud and Townsend show humane limits based on respect for both ourselves and others. And they firmly challenge any who feel it spiritual to blame the victim in cases of emotional abuse. On the way, they question many boundaries we draw in our lives, urging open consideration of what is actually helpful:

"Christians often have a warped way of looking at work. Unless someone is working 'in the ministry', they see his work as secular. However, this view of work distorts the biblical picture. All of us -- not only full-time ministers -- have gifts and talents that we contribute to humanity. We all have a vocation, a `calling' into service. Wherever we work, whatever we do, we are to do `unto the Lord'." (Colossians 3:23) (p. 194)

Was really looking forward to reading this and when it came in the mail today I was shocked! I had to get online to see if I was sent the wrong book! I expected a regular size book and received a book that was about 2"x3". My bad- Did not notice the last words of the title Description in the parentheses- (Miniature Editions.) Really think they should have said that FIRST! Not after the publisher's name or whatever that is. Also, I was charged $1 more for the book than if I had bought it at a regular book store! It is even priced directly on the book in 2 places! I am so disappointed- and to beat all- the shipping is ridiculous to send it back! So I guess I will suck it up and buy the used version at McKay's :). Amazon- you just lost a book buyer!

Mistakenly I ordered this book thinking it was the "real" book that had been recommended for us in class, several people have recommened it to me and I have recommended it to people every day...It's really been neat to share with others who are not going to read the "real" version. The people that have recommended it to me have laughed when they saw how small it is and even a child asked me to read this to her thinking it was a child's book....I really must get the original version. The small condensed version was great, fantastic, awesome for anyone to read. Please read if you are married, not married, in ANY kind of relationship with ANYONE...

I made a huge mistake not reading the fine print on this order. I didn't realize I ordered a "miniature" version of the book. I fault myself for not reading the fine print until I received the order today. I hope others don't make the same mistake as I did. I plan to be much more careful about my future book orders on here. I wasted my money on this item.

I have shared this with someone in a difficult relationship. I have read it, and can say that it helps put relationships into a prospective that is healthy and also nurturing.
Highly recommended for anyone that has had difficult times in life due to relationships.

The book was pocket size, that was not clearly indicated. I was expecting a full size book. not a minature.

This is an excellent book when it comes to content, however, I chose to purchase the bargin price book and was shocked when it arrived. It is smaller than the palm of my hand. Very disappointing.
