This review is from: The Bounty of the Earth Cookbook/the Practical Classic on How to Cook Fish, Game, and Other Wild Things (Paperback)
This book is great for beginners and advanced game cooks alike. It has a wide range of recipes for many types of game, and wild edibles. Although I specifically bought the book for bear recipes and there were only 2 bear recipes, both of which are good. The section on bear does not go into the importance of fully cooking bear, which means fall of the bone tender. Bears are known trychinosis carriers which is incurable, chronic and possibly fatal. Both bear recipes in this book do have cooking times of 12 and 18 hours in a 300 degree oven which is correct. A safety warning and explaination would be important for a beginner. Also the book could use more venison recipes. Other than that it is a great book for the true outdoors person.
