Editorial Reviews

Review

... this book is sacred writ--each word needing to be meditated upon repeatedly. The translation has been made keeping in mind the essential message of Advaita...
... each of its eight flowers is fresh and fragrant with Sri Shankara's highest teaching: The self within us is in reality Brahman.
... set in large typeface and an open airy layout especially conducive to reflection.
--Swami Satyamayananda, Belur Math, Prabuddha Bharata, January 2010

About the Author

The late Dr. H. Ramamoorthy was a foremost Sanskrit scholar and expert in Tamil. He was renowned for his humility, subtle humor, devotion, and a superlative clarity of expression even when dealing with the loftiest Hindu scriptural texts. During the period from 1989 to 2001, Dr. H. Ramamoorthy and Nome worked in close collaboration to translate numerous Advaita Vedanta texts, from Sanskrit and Tamil, into English.

Nome is a spiritual teacher at Society of Abidance in Truth, known by the acronym SAT, which established and maintains a temple for Nondual Self-Knowledge in California. Nome teaches Advaita Vedanta, especially as is contained in the teachings of Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi. These teachings are those found in traditional Advaita Vedanta as expounded by Adi Sankaracharya, Ribhu, and the Upanishads. Nome is a teacher of this spiritual knowledge, an author of the same, and a translator of Vedanta texts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bouquet of nondual texts (of Sankara), August 5, 2008
This review is from: A Bouquet of Nondual Texts (Hardcover)
This bouquet of nondual flowers has eight parts, all of the purest Nonduality, all conveying the Truth through the unique philosophic clarity of Adi Sankara. Although it is presented in a scholarly format, with Sanskrit and literal transcriptions, it is the four-line verses in plain but elegant English that give most of us the quintessence of Nonduality. Who would be uninterested? Perhaps, unfortunately, those with little prior knowledge of Advaita will pass by, or those who are put off by such a thorough approach, or by the appearance of Sanskrit characters. It is surely their loss.
Although all the flowers are of great beauty and Nondual Truth, they are difficult either to describe or exemplify. All can provide detailed support in Nondual meditation.
The publications of SAT are becoming known, in this world of compromises, for their uncompromising Nondual purity as well as clarity.
