Book Description

October 1, 1998
Set in Atlanta, GA, Denise Daniels and Robert Jackson were the quintessential BUMP (Black Upwardly Mobile Professional) couple. They attended opening night of every play, made an appearance at all the networking functions, and traveled frequently. Turned off by Robert's possessive behavior and his lack of creativity in bed, Denise breaks off her engagement to him.

Denise then meets a fine chocolate-skinned brother, named Saadiq Jordan Sumners, who has everything Denise desires in a man and then some. The only problem is that he's a driver for UPS. Saadiq, a strong, sensitive Black man, shatters Denise's belief that a good man can only be found in Corporate America.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is definitely a keeper, I loved the storyline., August 12, 1999

This review is from: Bourgeois Blues (Paperback)
At first I thought the book was going to be another typical romance novel. But as I read the book and really got into it, I discovered it was much, much, more. It dealt with everyday situations and problems involved in relationships, thus showing a happy ending despite the ups and downs. I really loved Saadiq Summers' character. This book will keep you laughing as well as crying because of the storyline. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

3.0 out of 5 stars a lesson for a sistah with a bougie attitude, October 9, 2000
This review is from: Bourgeois Blues (Paperback)
Denise learned a valuable lesson dealing with bourgeois blues ! She measured her worth on the type of man she would date ! Being a professional woman she felt she had to have the same as a mate ! She so often dated lawyers, doctors , and an aspirinng VIP of a company ! She was even engaged to a soon to be VIP. Waking up one morning she decides ,she could no longer marry him ...., for he's not the one !

Denise meets Saadiq and he is just what she is looking for except for one thing ! He is a UPS driver ! She was attacted to him ,she later felt she was in love with him just one problem.

Denise had a hard time telling others and sometimes knowing he was a driver for UPS !

This certainly was a nice story showing good and loving guys come in all fields of life ! Not just the white collar, but blue and brown collar jobs too! The job is not the character of a man !

Did she get pass the blues ,oh yes she did and the romance and sex was a story in itself.

Thru the fanning , breaks , and ice water to stay cool I was begining to wonder when I was going to finish this story ! :-) Desiree with your next story keep the romance and sex working ! Yesssssss! :-)
