4.0 out of 5 stars A Clear Mental Picture of the Russian people, January 18, 2001

This review is from: Bourgeois Mind and Other Essays (Hardcover)
Berdyaev a eminent Russian thinker best describs the innermost part of the Russian people, their livelihood, their religion and their political orientation. he offers a clear picture of the mental state of the nineteenth century Russians. Not being too much a slavophile, he nonetheless does not belong to the cycle of westernisers in Russia, enjoys the status as Solov'iev, Merezhkovsky and Shestov as an eminent Russian religious philosopher. Indeed, Solov'iev, Shestov and Merezhkovsky are Great!
