Still Holds Up,
By
This review is from: Bout Changes & Things (Audio CD)
This is one of the classic folk albums to come out of the 60's. And it still holds up. "Violets of Dawn" and "Thirsty Boots" are considered the "big" songs, but listen to "Close the Door Lightly When You Go". A great song. I had the pleasure of seeing Anderson a number of years ago in person, at a small club in Roselle, New Jersey and he was teriffic. My advice would be to get "Today is the Highway" and "Blue River" as well. In fact Anderson sings "Blue River" on the first album he did with Danko/Fjield (a very under-rated album). He gets better with age.

Best Ballad Singer of his times next to Tim Buckley and Tim Hardins,

Bob Dylan: Eric Andersen is one of the best ballad singers I have listened
to. Now that is the truth and a true compliment. If you enjoy Dylan, you will like Andersen. He has the gift of reaching your mind and soul. If you doubt me, listen to him first on You tube.

Musically wonderful,

An artist ahead of his time in the late 60's. Inspired many of the composers of that period. Where he's gone, I don't know.
