Jesse Powell's "You" is a wonderful and beautiful song. This song made me realize that I was indeed in love with the love of my life. So, I guess that you can say that is kind of like an inspirational CD. Congratulations Jesse for a great album and a job well done!

jesse's voice is very powerful and unique it's refreshing to here someone who can actually sing nowadays from a male point of view. "SHE WASN'T LAST NIGHT"is one of those song that is different but hot. dark child (rodney jenkins is talented). the single "YOU" is the wedding song of 1999 and jesse really explodes vocally. i heard a faster remix of "YOU" which is nice. could not find it though. "BOUT IT" is the 3rd single from the cd and again jesse delivers. "ARE YOU MISSIN MY LOVE" should be another cut from the cd, that's my prediction. of course the other cut's are very tight. this cd was worth the money

I was thoroughly shocked when I heard the CD. It is one of the best I've bought this year. Jesse will definitely be around for a while. And track #3 is all that and a buffet. It's got that sexy swang, and high notes. I love it. Much love to him. Suzanne

I was writing a letter to my fiance but I couldn't find the right words. I was listening to this cd and my eyes swelled w/ tears just thinking about him, so I ended up buying this for my baby. Through Jesse's music.. I've told him everything I feel and more. Thanks, Jesse, for writing such beautiful music and helping the fans find the right words to say to that special some1. Hey Jesse -- please sing #7 and #9 at our wedding. Otherwise I'll have to find some cheap imitation and I'm sure he can't pull it off like you can.

Mad Props/Mad As Hell,

I have mad love and the upmost respect for JP(Jesse Powell)
His first Self Titled Album showed not only could he have hung out with the legends of the past on a vocal level But he paid respect to them as well. Singing the Hook to the Dramatics Classic "In The Rain" On "You Dont Know" Sampling music from The Isaac Hayes Classic "Do Your Thing" on "Spend The Night(It's Alright) and of course the tribute to Enchantment "Gloria/It's You That I Need" As far as "Bout It" is concerend it is a great album from begining to end. Every song is a Tour De Force. From the Funky "I Wasnt With It" to the Smooth "Are You Misssing My Love" To the Pearcing falsetto notes of "She Wasn't Last Night" I believe JP like me was a huge Isaac Hayes fan because he used a sample of Ike's Re-Arrangement of The Jerry Butler Classic "Never Gonna Give You Up" as the basis for the song "Up and Down". The title Track is Amazing and of course there is the song "You"(Written By: Jesse Powell and Carl Roland) which took the world by storm when it was released on his first album reaching #10 on the Pop Charts and Reaching #2 On The R&B Charts.(It Shoulda Been #1) Every song on this album is a blockbuster.. this is like a Greatest Hits Compilation. Amazingly this album only went Gold..and Sadly his first album didnt chart at all. It makes me mad as hell that in todays world of Auto Tune(An Enormous Pain In Any Real Singers Side) That real singers like JP aren't burnin up the radio stations and realeasing more albums filled with real songs with real music being sung by real singers. Bottom line this album is off the chain and if you love JP the way i love JP you have to have it. My friend got it for me for my birthday he only paid $1.95 for it at a closeout sale in a music store.(mustve been there just for me) But i would have gladly gone as high as $30.00 to own it if necessary. MAD LOVE AND MUCH RESPECT TO JP

The album was just okay, but the song "YOU" made it perfect. This cd is a must have if only for the real, not the radio version of "You". This is the perfect wedding song. The music video was the best because they used a real girl in it and not a "video vixen." Jesse Powell is wonderful. It is such a shame that he just fell off...but I'm not a band-wagon girl. He's captured my heart and I'll be a die hard fan forever!

A little bit of a sophmore slump but his voices saves it,

Jesse Powell shocked a lot of R&B lovers with his Bout It CD, which was no where near as strong as first one. Luckly Mr. Powell has an amazing range which saves this CD from fully having a sophmore slump. The growth is apparent on Jesse Powell's sophomore effort for Silas/MCA Records. Half of the ten song set was co-written by Powell, furthering the evidence of artist development. Hip-Hop Soul tracks like "I Can Tell" are complete opposites of the folky, yet catchy, acoustic creations such as "You Should Know." Throwing it back to the age of classic R&B, "I Can Tell" possesses a retro-soul sound. 'BOUT IT offers more than just pleasant melodies and strong tracks. Powell's vocal delivery is a powerhouse of dynamic ranges, from the ballads ("'Bout It") to the Jeep pumpers ("I Wasn't With It"). Check out the Rodney Jerkins creation, "She Wasn't Last Night" and the Pete Rock remix of "I Wasn't With It." The bass thumping bottom of "Up and Down" cleverly uses a sample of Isaac Hayes' "Never Gonna Give You Up."

You can tell when albums are made in a week,

Jesse Powell's self-titled debut album was very underrated. After he released "I Wasn't With It" off THIS album, people finally realized that Jesse had talent (even though that's not the best song he's ever done). But for fans looking for another stellar album like his debut in `Bout It, be ready for some disappointment. To be frank, this album is boring. The only song that really stands out is "You", and that was on his first album. Then there's the unnecessary remix of "I Wasn't With It", as well as the song that accompanies the album's played-out title, "'Bout It, `Bout It". That song doesn't really help or hurt the album. There's also "She Wasn't Last Night", which is something that men don't say. In the end, `Bout It really isn't all it's cracked up to be. It has ten tracks but only eight original songs. And I, like most people, didn't hear his third album JP, but I just hope it's more creative than this album is.
