This multifunctional device can be used to trigger flash units, film and digital cameras and light meters for up to 100 meters. Because it uses radio transmission, rather than IR, it allows for triggering around corners, through walls and is not affected by high ambient light situations. Choose from four individual channels and six studio selectors, each providing a unique ID for a different flash device or combine them to trigger all equipment within a given setup or studio. Pulsar also features a hot-shoe mount, sync in and sync out terminals, a ready indicator, a test button and an external power option. Because of its low-voltage operation, it is perfect for digital cameras. Each unit can be used as either a transmitter or receiver and operates off of two AAA batteries. Precision, Power and Digital Dependability, The Pulsar has four separate channels, enabling the photographer to isolate various light sources or to combine them and fire them all at once without leaving the camera. Additionally, the Pulsar has a studio selector switch, which provides isolation from other Pulsar units using the same channel, and allowing up to six different systems to operate independently in the same studio or shooting space. I picked a up three of these things after shooting with the pocket wizards for a few years.

In reality the range seems to be the same. We have allot less problems with these over the PW. Syncs every time we fire them. It is very nice that they transmit and receive because it is easier to figure out which ones batteries need to be replaced.

Mounting these is very sweet. They come with mounting plates to keep them up and off the floor so they are less likely to get damaged.

If you want to sync them to canon flashes, you need to get you flash modified to take a sync. But really, just buy strobes, flashes are lame.

Pick them up!! They are great!

Recently, I purchased this item. Once the item was in my possesion I connected this item and set up my Canon speedlites (2) 580EX II. After beat ing my brain and manual trying to figure out why hasn't this fired my lites...well I contacted the selled (Bowens customer service is located in the UK which makes it hard for the customer to talk with customer service) and they told me that this product is not compatiable with Canon lites. So with in a few minute this item was packed up and shipped back to N.Y.
