The book is full of information on the history of the Peace Dollar, from the 1918 Pittman Act to assist the UK during World War I to the mysterious 1964-D. Burdette examines several theories of how 1964-D Peace Dollars could have escaped into circulation, such as substitution of older coins for new ones. The book includes information on errors, proofs, patterns, counterstrikes, and hoards, with many color pictures. I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn more about them.
The book is almost evenly divided between history and collecting advice and information. Each date and mintmark gets its own treatment, with discussion of the strike quality, with pictures, major varieties, mintage figures and certified populations, and more importantly, relative rarity within the set. Anyone who wants to collect Peace Dollars should buy this book before they start in earnest. The investment is well worth it!

A very illustrative and well written book encompassing not only Peace dollars, but history of the US Mint itself. Lots of information, great reading.
