Note: If you are thinking about buying these, you need these first: Bowflex 310 lb. Rod Upgrade.
Installation of the 410 lb upgrade is a lot eaiser than the 310 lb upgrade as these slip right on the back of your existing rod block and lock in place. The 310 lb upgrade requires you to remove your rod block and pop off the caps and screw them into the rod block from the bottom of the block. Not super hard to do, but does require you to disassemble the rod block from the machine (at least it did on my Extreme 2). Neither the 310 lb nor the 410 lb upgrade came with directions. It is fairly easy to install them, but directions would have been nice. The Extreme 2 installation instructions don't mention anything about installing extra rods either. I have found in working out that I rarely ever go with all the rods. I am no giant, but I am no small guy either. So your call on if you need to buy these. My advice would be to buy the 310 lb upgrade and see if you ever need more. These are really easy to add (compared to the 310 lb upgrade), so see if you are max'ing out at 310 and then buy these if needed.

It is what it is, more resistance...,

I don't know how closely these "bows" translate into real world pounds, but it's nice to max out the potential of your Bowflex. I'm already a strong guy and have been a recovering gym rat for years. But, I can't bench 410 lbs normally, and even with this upgrade I'm still doing repetitions of like 10 after doing 4-5 sets previously.
I know it has to do with pulleys and the variable resistance with the amount of flex in the bows, but still. These bows aren't even close to real world weight. But hey, it still beats driving to the gym and waiting for machines and free weights. Unless you want to become a hardcore bodybuilder, the Bowflex is convenient and sufficient.

It was just the 100 lb addition. There were no surprises in getting the upgrade; you get more weight, it gets a little harder. The bowflex weights are highly unrealistic though. I am able to bench all 410 lbs more than once. I weight about 180 lbs and there is no way I can actually bench 410 lbs. I can probably do half of that, but the bowflex was made for convenience, in which it has succeeded. The weight is worth getting if you plan on staying with the bowflex and you need more weight.

If you own the main unit already and are purchasing the upgrade, you can look at the bottom block and see where this pack slides on; very sturdy.
I've owned my unit & this pack since July 2008; very happy with the construction & quality. Workouts are also exceptionally safe, you don't have to worry about little fingers or pets being around a heavy stack of weights.

this is an awesome product-just slides on the back of the bowflex power rod cluster-if 310 lbs is enough total for your bowflex then just get the 410 lb option cause it just slides on the very back- wheras if you buy the 310 lb option you have to take apart the bows- just an fyi- i dont need 410 lbs total on my bowflex and this option(410 lb) is way easier to attach- just slide it on right out of the box----took all of 1 minute

The only thing that I questioned was whether or not it was original Bowflex equipment. The finish is slick and shiny on these, unlike the more textured finish on the rods that came with my Bowflex. They seem to have the same resistance. Love the Bowflex (ultimate 2), It's the second Bowflex I have owned, they are great home gyms!

Easy to install..just clip it on. Adds the additional resistence needed for some of the large muscle exercises like bench press.

The installation of the upgrade to 410 LB was so simple. Even a caveman could do it.

I have owned a Bowflex for more than ten years now. The one I have now is the Bowflex Sport. For overall size and weight this type of home gym is excellent and easy to use. The power rods are especially good for injury rehabilitation and for older users. The resistance is less at the beginning of the exercise and helps to prevent strain on joints and tendons.
