5.0 out of 5 stars Great Home Gym!
I recently put together the bowflex xceed and it took me about 3 hours but I was taking my time so I'm sure you can do it faster if you want to. I must say this is the best value buy there is. With all the stuff that this gym comes with you can't beat it. 310 lbs when most come with 210 which is 99.99 for the upgrade, an ab attachment that is 199.99 on the bowflex...

I have had this product about a week and I am very disappointed. This is a well built product, but it is an erector set gadget. It requires patch cables, and clips, and straps, and hand grips, and you have to keep up with and deal with all this stuff. The constant process of switching cables and reconfiguring the machine is a big waste of time, and a real irritation. The ab attachment is not useful given it will only use the rods on one side, so there is minimal resistance. The included lumbar pad is designed for the Xtreme model and won't stay in position on the back rest on the Xceed, it just keeps sliding off. If you look at the pictures of the ab unit you will see it is not on an Xceed, but rather Xtreme. Plus you have to go through a 2 minute process to remove the seat assembly and replace it with this clunky ab unit each time you want to use it. Save yourself the trouble, if you want a Bowflex with this space saving design go buy the Xtreme 2 that does not require the constant cable changes. I have seen the Xtreme 2 on sale for $100 more than the Xceed, and for $100 more you can add the 100 pounds of resistance. It also comes with ab shoulder straps that allow you to use all the power rods while doing crunches. The extra $200 will save you hours of frustration.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Home Gym!, July 17, 2008

I recently put together the bowflex xceed and it took me about 3 hours but I was taking my time so I'm sure you can do it faster if you want to. I must say this is the best value buy there is. With all the stuff that this gym comes with you can't beat it. 310 lbs when most come with 210 which is 99.99 for the upgrade, an ab attachment that is 199.99 on the bowflex website, a lumbar pad which is 25 and the leg extention is 200.00 even tho most do come with the leg extention. Thus for 899 you can't beat it, the bottom of the line bowflex blaze is 899 now and only have 210lbs, and a leg extension.

As for the machine I love it so far. So quiet and so far it actually does work. I must say the resistance of 310 pounds is definitley not enough for me but I've been going to the gym for years and could usually max out at about 255 lbs on the bench press and I can pretty easily do the 310 lbs so with another upgrade to 410lbs I hope I'm good. Most other excercises tho the weight works just fine especially since your supposed to do the excercises slow and fight the resistance.

Switching the powerrods and pulleys to go from excercise to excercise is a little cumbersome but overall its not that big of a deal. In my opinion this is the best homegym out there because it is so versatile and can offer so many excerises. By far the Xceed is the BEST Deal out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great machine, June 1, 2008
This review is from: Bowflex Xceed Plus Home Gym with Gym Style Ab Attachment [Discontinued] (Sports)
this bowlfex xceed is a pretty good machine. i got it for $999 but i did see it on amazon for around $600-700 before. this is basically a bowflex xtreme that has an added 100 lbs and comes with a gym like ab cruch. if you check on amazon for a bowlfex xtreme you would find it cost the same price as this xceed and only having 210lbs. the extras you get with the xceed cost over $300 so if you want to buy an xtreme for $999 and pay $300 more for the extras then go order the xtreme. if not then buy this which comes with the extras and save $300

3.0 out of 5 stars Bowflex exceed plus, July 4, 2008
This review is from: Bowflex Xceed Plus Home Gym with Gym Style Ab Attachment [Discontinued] (Sports)
I recently purchased this bow flex because of its quite operation.
I had mixed feelings because you have to constantly adjust the cables between exercises which I knew I wouldn't like and I don't.
The machine is very versatile and you can preform numerous types of exercises which target different muscle groups. The Gym Style Ab Attachment is a huge let down for me so far. It simple does not provide the resistance that I am used to from going to a gym. I am going to try attaching more rods when I use this feature but I have not been motivated to attach the seat and cables.
I quit going to the gym when I tore my shoulders up two years ago. I simple cannot let all of my hard "getting in shape" work continue to vanish and this is a good alternative. I should have purchased the more expensive Bowflex that did not require the cable changes.
I will probably sell this bowflex and purchase the other one or a comparable one in the future.
However, it was very easy to assemble and only took about two hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent exercise machine if you learn how to use it, September 22, 2008

We've had a Bowflex Xceed for 6 months and my wife and I do every other day workouts. A lot of machine on a small footprint. The key to using the Xceed is to take the manual, figure out the basic exercises you want by muscle groups, then translate that into an exercise sequence on the machine so you make the fewest equipment changes between exercises. That way you focus on the exercises and not switching cables and handles. We have 9 basic exercises we do every time starting at the top part of the machine (pull downs) then mid (bench press, trunk rotation, abd. crunch--using hand grips, crossover rows)and finally the lower cables (biceps curl, standing lower back extension, leg extension.) The Ab attachment took too much time to setup and use during our workouts. We use the bench press cable setup to do simple crunches. We've seen steady improvement in our strength, energy and fitness. It was a great purchase for us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get in shape fast & easy!!, August 30, 2008
This review is from: Bowflex Xceed Plus Home Gym with Gym Style Ab Attachment [Discontinued] (Sports)
My husband bought the same Xceed Plus model at Costco in Kona, Hawaii for the same price earlier this year. He wanted a Bowflex for years, which I always discouraged because I was very skeptical. Thanks to him making the decision to buy this model, I now understand that it really works! We are so thrilled with the fast & easy results of weight loss and muscle gain. He lost 60 lbs and I lost 40 lbs by healthy eating habits and using this Bowflex every other day for 4 months. We're retired baby-boomers and love this Bowflex model (there are many to choose from). We are so thrilled and impressed by following the weight loss recommended program of 8-10 exercises with one set of 12 reps every other day, that we purchased the same model Xceed Plus (no longer available at Costco) which we luckilly found on Amazon.com; this same one for our son and daughter-in-law. The exercises are easy and not "grunt work" like using universal or free weights. This model comes with an Ab attachment and Leg flexor attachment, which gets results after continued use. Another advantage of this model is that the weight may be easily increased, if you want to purchase the added rods later. If you've ever wanted a Bowflex, this model is highly recommended. It has everything and you can't beat the price. It takes up approximately 7 x 6 ft area. You'll need to put it together--which took my husband an afternoon to do. Changing the weights on the rods takes a little getting used to, but don't be discouraged, you'll quickly get used to it. Also, the instruction book lacks good instruction for knob placement. Follow a program of your choice in the booklet and record the weight & knob placements for each exercise. This makes it simple to keep track of your progress and do the same exercises, in the same way, every other day.

4.0 out of 5 stars As good as it gets for the price, July 25, 2008

This review is from: Bowflex Xceed Plus Home Gym with Gym Style Ab Attachment [Discontinued] (Sports)
We've had this gym for about three weeks now. It's def not like working out in a gym. I have not worked out in several years, just had a baby but somehow on this machine I can do 100lbs when doing bicep curls! Something doesn't seem right there. I could never do more than 30lbs at the gym.

Overall I am satisfied with the bowflex. It takes a few tries to get used to switching the cords around for your workout, but after you get it you'll be switching around with ease. My husband however is not completely satisfied with the bowflex because of the weight lifting. It's fine for me because I am not trying to bench press 300 plus pounds. So if you are into heavy lifting this may not be the machine for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars great machine, great program... but forget the ab crunch addition, October 1, 2008
This review is from: Bowflex Xceed Plus Home Gym with Gym Style Ab Attachment [Discontinued] (Sports)
Awesome machine and program. Despite all the critical things I've heard about it, this thing WORKS! Used a lot of different equipment and programs over the years, and the one key to all of them is, you have to do it! Started following the leanness program, yes including the 1500 cal/day eating plan, and lost 12 pounds in two weeks and fifteen pounds in three weeks. Following it pretty closely, doiung some substitions but following the guidelines for the meals, using some south beach snack bars... love it! Improved strenght, vitality, down a full pant size (was wearing 40's, down to a 38...), yada yada. This program woirks! People keep complaining about the cables... it's less cumbersome than switching weights, that's for sure! Only reason I didn't give five stars is the ab machine, works great but only hooks on one side so I don't get encough resistance. Oh well... I do SLOW situps instead. Other issue woudl be the rating of the resistance... that can't really be 310 pounds. SO, renumber the rods already and give a more accurate reading... but I don't actually care how much weight I'm pushing anyway. Not buying a #300 press sweatshirt any time soon LOL I'm kinda too old for that... all in all, I'm totally satisfied. great product, great price... best deal for fitness!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny and more!, February 5, 2009
This review is from: Bowflex Xceed Plus Home Gym with Gym Style Ab Attachment [Discontinued] (Sports)
BUY THIS BOWFLEX!!! Don't buy used! Don't buy from Bowflex direct! THIS is less than used pricing and half what Bowflex direct charges for the same (Extreme SE) machine. The ab attachment is a $200 bonus! Delivery was right on time: set up was simpler than it looks; lots of parts, but don't despair, they all fit and are relatively easy to assemble. Took me 2 hours after a thorough review of the instructions and no swearing! When completed, this is a solid, gym-quality unit. The exercises (cable changes) take a bit to get used to, but they are smooth & quiet; with the right resistance, quite challenging! The Bowflex book is good; suggest you download it from the website and place it in a binder for easier reference. Also, get the Bowflex sales DVD: you can get a good look at how the exercises work from that. Working on my Bowflex body and overall, I am very happy with my purchase and VERY happy with Amazon!

I got it in 5 days from ordering it. that was awesome thanks Amazon. it was easy to put together about an hour or so. i have had it only a few days but so far i love it. once you get a routine. it is easy to use and the cables are easy to move around. for the money it is a very good buy. im glad i bought this one and not the blaze or one like that. its still big so you will need a good sized room.
