This handbook is a fairly succinct bowling guide that is a good book for beginners. Of the 140 pages, I found mainly the first 80 pages to be the most useful.
The author basically summarizes his interviews of nine of the most successful amateur bowlers of the past two or three decades, getting their perspectives and insight into various aspects of the game, including practice strategy, mental preparation, approach, aim, backswing, release, loft, timing, and follow through. He also provides some information about the rules of the game, bowling terminology, courtesy in bowling, scoring and figuring handicaps. The handbook also attempts to provide a compendium of bowling facts, names of Hall of Fame bowlers, record scores, and an outline of the history of bowling in the USA. I think that it fulfills it's intention to be a compact bowlers handbook but it is not really a bowling improvement book so if that is what you are looking for you would be disappointed.

Read the whole book over and over. Knew all the information they gave and more. I still can't bowl worth a whistle. Some articles are a GEM.

This is a real good reading book with great reading and lots of bowling knowledge. It is small enough to carry in my bowling bag and the great bowlers have a lot of experience to share with average league bowlers. I find their lives exciting and hope to one day be able to enjoy the game as much as these master bowlers. I recommend this book.
