4.0 out of 5 stars BFS Goes to the Movies
This record isn't quite as good as some of the other stuff Bowling for Soup has done, but the fun, playful vibe still shows through. Many songs are covers, and I have to say I prefer their original stuff, but it's not bad. If you're new to BFS, you ought to listen to Hangover You Didn't Deserve or Drunk Enough To Dance first. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad
This cd clearly doesnt have the cohesion of a normal studio album, as it is a compilation of songs released on soundtracks and other miscellaneous cuts, but oddly enough, this is one of Bowling For Soup's better cds. There are a lot of fun songs on here. The "Gilligan's Island" theme and "I'll Melt With You" are great covers. Best tracks are "Undertow," and "Little Red...

One complaint I have is that the color of the print on the insert doesn't contrast enough with the background- it's extremely difficult to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars More Soup Please!, January 6, 2006
This review is from: Bowling for Soup Goes to the Movies (Audio CD)
I want to start by saying "I LOVE THIS BLOODY BAND!". Now for this album, it is a compilation album of soundtrack songs and others. It is a hit & miss affair throughout. I have to be honest here when it's bad it's really not that bad. 'Greatest Day' is a typical BFS hit single with the snappy beat & sing-a-long chorus. The absolutely horrid Britney Spears song should be left alone. Nobody cares about the awful song and no one does it justice (plenty have tried). 'Here We Go' is another good song with a great little groove ala the Flaming Groovies. There are many moments on this album which make it a good addition to your collection. The true standout tracks are Sam The Shams 'Little Red Ridinghood' & Mathew Sweets 'Sick Of Myself' and have the ability to become hit songs for the best post Green Day pop punk band so far...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, July 10, 2011

There are a lot of fun songs on here. The "Gilligan's Island" theme and "I'll Melt With You" are great covers. Best tracks are "Undertow," and "Little Red Riding Hood." The Britney Spears cover isn't good, but the rest of the cd is playable all the way through. This is a great cd to add to your collection, definitely worth checking out. The thing I like the best about this band is they're not pretentious about the music they make, they dont take themselves too seriously, and they still make great music. As for this cd, nothing on here is BAD, but in the same breath, nothing on here is spectacular. None of the songs on here pop out, but none of them suck. I don't find myself getting an urge to hear any of these songs, when I put the cd on, I can sing along to all of them and get lost in the music and never skip a song. A very consistent cd.

This CD didn't impress me. I can't believe they covered "Baby One More Time." This is awful.

Bowling For Soup did a great job on this CD. They picked a great bunch of songs to remake and really put their stamp on them.

first of all I am a big bowling for soup fan. that being said this album is just tv theme songs with the exception of a few songs. I did not realize this when i bought it. Compared to drunk enough to dance and a hangover you dont deserve I have to say its a flop. I just ordered the great burrito incident hopefully i like it better than this one. I also thinking about getting one of thier other albums but i'll wait and see how i like the burrito one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, February 9, 2007
This review is from: Bowling for Soup Goes to the Movies (Audio CD)
Enough of these 4-star reviews. I rate this a 6! I own all the BFS albums and this is absolutely, by far, my favorite. It's rare to find an album with so many great songs that carry you away. OK, I admit, I'm a sucker for remakes, and the ones on this album are great. Yeah, they do a remake of Brittney Spears, but so what? The song is fun. Overall the CD is full of positive, high energy music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun CD, January 9, 2007

This was a fun CD of Songs made for Movies, TV events and games and apparently some B sides or other random stuff that wasn't in previous Bowling for Soup albums.

If you are into Britney Spears bashing its fun to hear someone else doing Baby one more time(altho I admit after hearing it once or twice I just skip this song), oddly enough when I got this CD I also bought the Fountains of Wayne B side Double CD and it contained a cover of the same song.

I liked their version of I'll Melt with you. Anyone who was a Teenager in the 80s will always have an affinity for that song. I heard it at the end of Sky High and at first thought it was Weird Al - but when I saw the credits that it was BFS I was hoping to see it on an album and here it was.

The 2 stand outs of the album would be the Star song and Live it up. I think those songs could make it on Air play but haven't heard any station play them.

Undertow was pretty good as well. Those 3 Undertow, Star Song and Live it up being typical BFS songs vs written or covered for movie or entertainment industry projets.

Bottom line - if you are a BFS fan - this album will be a pretty good buy for you.
