Better late than never,

I have waited for nearly ten years for Sam Brown to fulfil her promise and after all that time I have finally been rewarded. This is by far the best album she has released and there are so many fantastic songs that I find myself putting this on repeat and listening for hours. This would make a wonderful addition to any record collection, and for those of us that still like to hear someone who can actually sing, then this is a must. Fantastic!

Calling Sam Brown! Truly amazing singer has produced some great music since her debut 10 years ago. "Box" is certainly at the top of my list (while "Stop" and "43 Minutes" are a close second, but good luck finding them). The title cut is a good showcase for her voice, but she really gets going on songs like "I Forgive You" co-written with (and also covered by) Maria McKee, and the mesmerizing "Intuition". I played a couple of the "catchy" rockers like "When The Crow Flies" and "Liberty In Reality" for a friend grumbling about how there doesn't seem to be a market in the states for Sam's music and his immediate response was "Sure there is, look at Sheryl Crow." And while I also like Sheryl, her voice doesn't compare to Sam Brown's. Airplay or not, this collection is a prize for anyone lucky enough to discover it.

Powerful songs from singer-songwriter Sam Brown,

One of the best singer songwriters on the scene today, Sam Brown moves beyond the "soul diva" stylings of her best-selling debut CD "Stop" with the emotionally turbulent "Box." Songs like "Whisper" and "I Forgive You" have an epic sweep that showcases Brown's powerful multi-octave range while the more introspective "Embrace the Darkness" is one of the most evocative songs on the subject of emotional depression. An important CD from a seriously underrated artist.

Excellent Artist - excellent music,

If the only exposure you have ever had to Sam Brown is the chart hit 'Stop' - think again! Sam has produced excellent music for years. If you get the chance, listen to her other albums (April Moon; Stop; 43 Minutes) and you will find meaningful lyrics with deep sounds. Box is a culmination of Sam's musical development. It's a pity that more of her quality material (such as Box) isn't more widely litened to.

An Inspired Talent,

Sam Brown seems to have gone mostly unnoticed by the masses, it's a shame really as she consistently produces some of the most catchy pop songs. With this album Sam returns back to the fore with a collection of sometime great and never less than good songs. Whisper is a beautiful ballad that makes her first hit (Stop!) seems like amateurish ramblings. There are many other outstanding tracks on the album, What's The Use, Intuition, They're The Ones & Box are just a few. Anyone who appreciates good music and has a penchant for modern day singers that can actually sing should check this album out. I would have rated this album higher if it were possible. All I can say is buy it, sit back, listen and enjoy. You won't be disappointed.

Long way to know bout' her? - TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!!,
This review is from: Box (Audio CD)
Sam Brown it's one of the most talented singers (really) i've EVER listened in my life. I knew nothing about her until I started to listen to progressive rock (Big fan now) and watched the PULSE video (P. Floyd). And she totally rocked my world. Her voice solo in "The Great Gig In The Sky" brought me to tears so...I started to look for her all over the web. I finally I bought this AMAZING record and I confirmed all my doubts. She is a great musician and an even greater singer. If you've reached here and spent loads of time in finding about her, then buy this record. You won't be dissapointed. Guarantied. A ... Hope I was helpful, bye

Sam Browm has not been heard of in a long time till she dueted with the brilliant FISH on the hit single called JUST GOOD FRIENDS from his album YIN. While she could of capitalised on this publicity she instead decided to hang in the shadow of Jools Holland. This is a great shame as she has a magnificent voice. Perhaps she'll get back with FISH after he finishes promoting RAINGODS WITH ZIPPOS, we'll see.
