Wow, I just received my case. I've owned Palms and Handsprings for nearly as long as they've been making them. I always buy a case, and I'm used to having to deal with at least some drawback. But this case seems to be the first that's really intelligently designed. Fits my TX beautifully.
Here are some notable features:
* The application/cursor buttons are not occluded at all, and yet the Palm is still perfectly snug. That's a first!
* The cover flips over behind the Palm, as with any vertical flip case, but it also gets the latching tab completely out of the way by connecting even when flipped.
* When the cover is flipped and the magnetic tab connected, it makes a grip that holds onto my fingers. I find myself relaxing more while holding it, as I'm less worried about dropping it.
* The tab that closes the cover is magnetic with a catching rim. I've never seen such a thing before. Being magnetic, it's easy to close and open, and yet having that catching rim, it stays securely closed. (At this point I'm short on experience to know how successful it will be.)
* When the cover is closed, the TX is fully protected from damage everywhere but at the on/off button and audio jack. Not even the sides of the PDA are exposed.
* To connect power and the sync cable, all you have to do is detach the tab -- doing so exposes these jacks. No need to remove the TX from the case, no need to even expose the screen.
* The cover is quite sturdy, and I trust it to protect the screen.
* Plenty of sturdy little pockets under the cover to put SD cards and such.
* Attaching the clip is optional; and yet while not attached, the clip connector on the back of the case hardly protrudes. I won't be using the clip and am glad I'll still be able to lay the case flat on a table.
* The clip that comes with it is the best kind, from my experience. I've had too many Palms detach from my trousers and land on the ground. This clip has a lip at the bottom to be sure it catches well even on clothes.
* It seems well crafted and is nice to look at.
I hope BoxWave stays in business forever and produces a new case for every PDA I own. I'll stop thinking of cases as a necessary evil and start thinking of them as a way to make the PDA even classier.
Apologies for the overly positive review, but I really like what I got.
