5.0 out of 5 stars A Book Review From a Spiritridge Third Grader
Do you want to read an amazing book? Well you should read the Box Car Children. There are four young children and they are really poor. They do not have food. Then they do not know what to do. Well, they run away from their house because they thought their dad did not like them. They found a boxcar. So they thought that the boxcar might take them somewhere, but it...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book Review From a Spiritridge Third Grader, March 22, 2007
This review is from: The Boxcar Children Mysteries Books 5-8 (Boxcar Children)) (Paperback)
Do you want to read an amazing book? Well you should read the Box Car Children. There are four young children and they are really poor. They do not have food. Then they do not know what to do. Well, they run away from their house because they thought their dad did not like them. They found a boxcar. So they thought that the boxcar might take them somewhere, but it didn't pull them. The father was trying to find them but they did not want to be found.

What I like is that when they try to find food and on their way they found a hound. I like that part because I like dogs and I think they're cute.

I recommend this book to other readers who are in 2nd grade or 3rd grade because it is just right.

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL books, January 8, 2009
This review is from: The Boxcar Children Mysteries Books 5-8 (Boxcar Children)) (Paperback)
We LOVE the Boxcar Children books. We were introduced to the first one through my daughter's kindergarten home school curriculum and they have been some of her favorites ever since. So far we have only read volumes written by Gertrude Chandler Warner (she wrote books 1 - 19), but have heard good things about many of the other volumes, also. GREAT read-alouds!

If your child loves the first four, the fun continues in the rest of the series.

I recommend the series of Box Car Children books to all families. I read the first book when I was in 5th grade back in the 50's. My kids read them in the 70's, my granddaughters in the 90's and now my Greatgranddaughter is reading them. Have never heard anyone say anything bad about the books. They tug at your heart for years. All kids benefit from reading so I'd definitely say get these for your kids or grandkids.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Boxcar Children, April 2, 2010
This review is from: The Boxcar Children Mysteries Books 5-8 (Boxcar Children)) (Paperback)
I have enjoyed the Boxcar mysteries for a long time.
They are written in a style easily understood by children, short sentences, and no "hard" words. They capture their readers and keep them interested with their stories. The stories are not too long, and the books do not seem overwhelming to children. Kids will love to read one book and follow with the next one.
They are great stories, but I would like to see a little bit more humor and fun in them.
