This record won me over,

This review is from: Boxes & Bags (Audio CD)
This is one of the best records I've ever owned. Like I've said elsewhere, I'm not fan of country, but the style of Coyote Grace transcends genre, at least for me. I first saw them perform, and heard my favorite song "Sunrise," when I was on the verge of a major life transition. I couldn't have mustered up a more a propos anthem if I'd written it myself. Which of course I'd never be able to do. This is a long, radio-defying song.(Although I keep hoping I'll hear it played on KEXP.) It has a "bookend" storyline that takes you full-circle through to a soul-satisfying resolution. And an infectious bluesy-folksy tempo - daring you to not tap your toe.
Coming in at a close second is "A Guy Named Joe." I've never taken issue with a well-placed F-bomb in folk music; Joni Mitchell did it, Paula Cole did it. And Coyote Grace does it here, with success. This is a subtly brave and candid song that people need to hear. But while it may be subtle, it certainly makes its point. For such a specific narrative, it holds a universal theme for anyone who's ever grieved the loss of a loved one. In this case though, there's a happy (well, maybe bittersweet) ending. A very moving and ultimately uplifting song.

I love love love Joe & Ingrid's musical communion. The songs are deep, heartfelt, sweet, somber, inspiring...
And such a wonderful story of friendship and love. I'm so excited that folks are loving them as much as my friends and I do...and especially that they are connecting with Indigo Girls & Melissa Ferrick. I believe they are bound for greatness. Get this CD, hear the words, listen to the sounds...and sing along!

Coyote Grace quickly became one of my favorite musical groups when I first heard of them a few months ago.
The collaborative chemistry between Joe Stevens and Ingrid Elizabeth create a sound that is not only beautiful but is full of substance. These folks are so awesome that they've not only shared the stage with the Indigo Girls, but are also currently touring with Mellisa Ferrick. Hands down, Coyote Grace rocks'
