This book is a big disappointment and a frustration. It's obvious the Bridgewaters have the knowledge to build fabulous furniture but they have chosen to keep that knowledge a secret. With weak project sketches and ambiguous, discontinuous text, it is difficult to see how they breezed through point "A" to point "B." Their reading audience is not the beginning woodworker. The Bridgewaters assume the reader has a full array of wood planes and wood carving tools and knows how to use them without need for explanation. This is perhaps more a style book for the advance woodworker (I wish I were) who is in a rut for new ideas. Maybe they had a lousy editor?

This book was written without a reason. The cover is the best part of the whole book.It misleads you into believing it's about making boxes and chest when in fact.its about refinishing yard sale junk using beginner shop techniques from the 1920s.
Next time I see these authors names again I wont walk, but run from the book.Tricked once shame on you, tricked twice, shame on me.

Ok, I'll admit I bought this book for one section on the hand forged hardware for the domed chest box. BUT, this is a excellent book with diagrams, directions, and EXCELLENT photographs.
