Product Description

In BOXING FOR MMA, UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva examines the sweet science as it relates to the sport of mixed martial arts. Starting at the ground floor, he teaches you how to utilize footwork to not only acquire dominant angles of attack, but also evade your opponent s strikes. He covers dozens of punches, dissecting the dynamics of each one to teach you how to deliver them with the utmost efficiency. To further your education, he then demonstrates how to blend these punches with evasive maneuvers such as slips and parries to limit the damage you receive in a fight, as well as make your opponent pay for his attacks. Leaving no stone unturned, he also breaks down the dirty boxing clinch by demonstrating numerous ways to off balance your opponent while punishing him with strikes at the same time. And once he has filled your arsenal with weapons, he shows you how to put them all together in drills, shadow boxing, and sparring. Whether you are new to the martial arts or an experienced MMA fighter, BOXING FOR MMA will elevate your game to the next level.

ANDERSON SILVA
BOXING for MMA
a Brian Rule Production
presented by Victory Belt

No Champion in the UFC dominates his division more than Anderson "The Spider" Silva, to the point where he currently has to move up a weight class in search of worthy opponents. And when Anderson moved from middleweight to light heavyweight and took on one of the hardest men in MMA, Forrest Griffin, Silva totally outclassed the former belt holder before knocking him out at just 3.23 into the opening round. So it's no wonder fight fans are eager to learn all they can from The Spider in his Victory Belt series of DVDs.

First off don't listen to the lame reviews about this video. Although I am a beginner, I believe that has given me an advantage when watching this film and quite frankly, that is how you should watch this DVD. Go in with a open mind and study everything he does in his demonstrations.... the hip work, how fluid his movements are, what his defending hand does when his opposite arm is attacking, where his elbow is to guard his chin, what knuckles he strikes with, where his eyes are focusing on, his footwork, and his body movement.

If you watch this video with a selfish and narcissistic attitude then you will waste 35 bucks that could have gone into your gas tank, however, if you watch this film and study what he does, constantly rewind, and zero in on every nook and cranny that this film has to offer then you will be able to not only change, but feel improvement in your game.

My advice: Get a partner, make the rewind button your new best friend, go in with a child's mindset and absorb everything and study the Freddie Roach segment at the end (by far the best piece of video in this film). The sky's the limit with this film.

Techniques on all 3 dvds are great cannot wait until muay thai clinch and muay thai strikes come out, I emailed Victory belt and was informed they are being edited. 1 should be released in 4 weeks and the final dvd several weeks later. I had read a review where someone asked how he moved to the other side of his opponent? If you watch the first DVD Boxing for MMA he explains footwork and evasions, and I would not be suprised if in the next two DVD's he covers what most people feel is missing.

Takedown DVD has some great wrestling and judo takedowns, with some takedowns from the clinch. It is a must to have all 5 dvds with the 3 Nogueira dvds to get a glimpse of what makes him a Champion.

The only thing I would want more than anything would be more advise on strategy, though if you listen to him in the presentation of techniques he gives great advise about timing and distance.

I think they made this with money in mind. Poor quality. Of little value compared to a live instructor and real practice.

This is a great video where Silva shows all of the fundamental boxing techniques including strikes, slips (bobs & weaves), parries, blocks, footwork, etc. There is a bonus section on sparring and another where Silva trains with Freddie Roach. Not sure if some of the prior raters got a broken video or what. This is the easiest to use boxing instructional on the market.
