Great for nostalgia - completely impractical,

This review is from: The Boy Camper: 160 Outdoor Projects and Activities (Popular Mechanics) (Paperback)
I had been hoping this was a book of projects that a parent and child could share on a camping trip. However, what it is instead is a collection of mid-20th century articles from Popular Mechanic on Stuff To Build that might conceivably be used outside. For example, there is a project on building your own camp car. Interesting, yes. Practical today? No. Furthermore, many of the suggestions are completely inappropriate with modern camping ethics, such as leaving no trace and not damaging wildlife or the environment. The old cut-bough, dugout lean-tos are no longer appropriate.
This is no more than a gag gift. If you're looking for an actual book of projects that can be done without getting arrested, keep looking.

A nice book to pick up and thumb through, but most of what's in here is either outdated for today's camper, or the instructions are too vague. Save your money.
