3.0 out of 5 stars Yes, way overpriced, May 25, 2007
This review is from: The Boy from Lam Kien (Paperback)
This is a beautiful short story of a timid woman's chance encounter with the outgoing little boy who lives across the street. July's perspective on life is original and she conveys so many ideas and emotions in such small space. The awkward connection between these two people of different nationality and generation and gender is tender and funny and moving. I give the story five stars. However this little booklet, while charming, feels like it was printed on a home computer and stapled together. Now that you can get this story along with 15 others in July's hardcover book No One Belongs Here More Than You the only reason to have this is if you are a collector.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful hand-made book, November 10, 2005
This review is from: The Boy from Lam Kien (Paperback)
I ordered this because I'm a fan of Miranda July's work. I didn't really know what to expect but I was so happy when I got it. It is a small, gorgeous book. The story is short but powerful and unusual, and the book itself is amazing. It has hand-made covers and dust-jacket and is really exquisite. It's like a work of art. Very cool. I am keeping one for myself and getting another for my friend's birthday present.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not overpriced, September 26, 2006

Yes, the book is only a few pages. Yes, it is worth $15. The quality of the paper and the printing alone is worth $15. The content puts this tiny wonderful book in a category all of its own. Think of it as a piece of art, not only as a book.
