This review is from: The Boy Mechanic: 700 Things for Boys to Do (Paperback)
I am 58 and I got this superb publication of Popular Mechanics as a prize from my father for getting an 'A'in High School, when I was 13. For a guy who is mechanically aptituded and loves to work with his hands I have yet to come across a better book. Almost all projects in the book are exciting and it is difficult to resist the temptation of going ahead with any of them. As a 5 year old I made working models of 'Mechano'. After I out grew mechano I took to 'Aeromodelling'. Thats when I saw 'The Boy Mechanic'in a popular book store. In 1958 this was an expensive book. Very unfortunately I lost the book to a youngster. To day as a retired man I have the time and resources to do as many of the projects described in the book as I can. I love the book and wil have it. Each project is superbly described with perfect details and drawings. How can I ever forget The 'Wells Fargo Covered Wagon', The '18th. Century Naval Cannon'with perfect details. I enjoyed so much acclaim for building these two models in my younger days. Thanks to Mr. D.R. Klein. Why such books are not published any more ? One wonders and sympathises with the modern generation.
