About the Actor

Cory Monteith: In 2009, Monteith was cast in the Fox series Glee, playing Finn Hudson, the male lead of the glee club and the quarterback of McKinley High School. The first time he sang in front of an audience was at his in-person audition, at which he sang "Honesty" by Billy Joel. He and Lea Michele, his Glee co-star, were included in Entertainment Weekly's 2009 "Summer Must List", being named "Summer's Must Songbirds" for their portrayals of Finn and Rachel on Glee, respectively

From the rear of DVD. "World-renowned murder-mystery writer Sara Wylde travels to the small town of Christina Lake in search of inspiration to write her next novel. Sara gets more than she bargained for when she meets her neighbor, a young, handsome and wealthy man who quickly becomes her muse. Her novel develops effortlessly as she spies on him from her upstairs window each night. But when the man mysteriously turns up dead, Sara becomes the lead suspect in his murder case. Now, she must not only prove that she is innocent, but she must also try to discover the real killer before she becomes the next victim."

I bought this simply because Dina Meyer is in it, not knowing anything about the movie. It is a no frills DVD with only sound and subtitle extras. But the movie was actually pretty good. The acting was much better than most straight to video movies, and more importantly the plot and writing actually make sense. There are no real holes in the story line and just enough misdirection to keep you guessing most of the way through the movie. No out of left field bad guys showing up at the last second to be the real killer. Dina as usually was superb and gave a very good performance. A must have if you are a Dina Meyer fan, and a should have if you like murder mysteries.

This a decent mystery, but if you are buying it because you think Cory Monteith is the star or even the co-star, then save your money. He is in about 5 minutes of the movie and only about half of that is dialogue. And yes he is just as sexy as ever, when I realized he wasn't the "boy next door" I was hoping he would at least be the badboy that she would have a brief love affair with (no such luck). If you want to see more of Cory spend your money on Hybrid. It is a sci-fy thriller and not the best movie ever made, but at least Cory is the star of that one and you get to see him run around in the woods shirtless. There is even a very brief love scene. By the way Cory is gorgeous by firelight, I wanted to say beautiful, but I guess most guys don't like to be called beautiful. This movie is $4 and Hybrid is $8, if you want to see Cory get it.

I think it is pretty sneaky to try and market this as a "Cory Monteith" movie just because he is famous now. It is also an insult to the actual star of the movie Dina Meyer. She is a good actress. Shame on the marketers and Amazon for misrepresenting this movie. If I hadn't only paid $4 for it I would be asking for a refund. But as it is, I just wanted to warn other people about the misleading idea that Cory Monteith is the star.

The movie makes one think Cory Monteith plays a major role in the movie - he is just in a few scenes and his performance is less than admirable. The plot is unpredictable - that is the only good thing about the movie....

I really enjoyed this. Sure, it doesn't have the 'flash bang, wild ride' style of current murder/suspense movies--or the gore that goes with it--but the story is well crafted, the characters are believable, the dialogue is realistic, and the twisting suspects were clever. Dina is, frankly, an amazing actress--her facial feature movements alone are worth watching--and she plays her part perfectly. You can easily see this really happening--she makes the bad mistakes regular people do and has to try and figure her way out of them before she ends up a body on the beach line, too--or in prison. The bad guys and the good guys aren't easily discerned between and the plot keeps you easily involved to the end. I loved the humor woven throughout--everything from the muffins to the coffee 'barista' to the book store couple to the final scene. The touch of romance at the end was fun and left you with a grin. This one's a keeper. A great circumstantial entanglement in a small town, where a stranger is always the first suspect.

Contains some plot spoilers.

Claire Peterson (Jennifer Lopez) has issues with her husband (John Corbett) who cheated on her. They live separate but share a teen son Kevin (Ian Nelson) who has bully issues. The muscle bound intelligent charming Noah (Ryan Guzman) moves in next door, cue Carly Rae Jepson, and school teacher Claire takes a passing interest that culminates into a one night stand followed by the expected stalker/psychopath Noah that escalates into an absurd fiery cage match. Kristin Chenoweth plays the school's vice principle and confidant who makes bad cookie jokes.

The script didn't know if it wanted to be a Lifetime film or a "B" psycho movie. It is another film that they didn't seem to know how to end, not wanting to copy endings of other films of this genre.

Guide F-bomb, sex, nudity (Ryan Guzman-butt, Lexi Atkins of "Zombeavers")

Just ok when there's nothing else on to watch. Good for a rainy day and a young Cory Monteith does a pretty good job.
