5.0 out of 5 stars So beautiful!
I've anticipated Landon's follow-up album for quite some time. This album easily surpassed all of my expectations. Landon took his time to write sweet, thoughtful lyrics and accompany them with some of the most beautiful piano/cello/string arrangements that I have ever heard. Landon took his time to write sweet, thoughtful lyrics and accompany them with some of the most beautiful piano/cello/string arrangements that I have ever heard. The songs are beautiful, touching, and sweet - it is a very relaxing album and a pleasure to listen to over and over again. Great job, Landon! Favorites include "Look So Tired," "Blue Skies," "A Ghost," and the newly-arranged "Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop."

p.s. Everyone who is writing low-starred reviews and complaining about the "high" song prices -- give me a break, please. MP3s have been priced at 1.29 for months now - where have you been? Buy the physical album for $8.99 and save a few dollars. CDs > MP3s, anyway.

Why do dopes come on here and leave low marks for prices especially when they agree to buying the songs? Ratings are for the product/music. I dont agree with the price either but if you want to pay less buy the whole album like I did and you will come to enjoy all songs and pay less than 99 cents for each...............dont be so cheap

5.0 out of 5 stars The Boy Who Never...a fan's appreciation, October 19, 2009
This review is from: The Boy Who Never (Audio CD)
"The Boy Who Never" Album has very enjoyable music and lyrics that speak deeply to me and resonate joyously in my soul. There's a special magic for me to it because of its wide emotional range and breadth of evocative power. As a LP fan I frequently listen to it and his other albums with great relish and pleasure. I really enjoy Landon's voice and vocal technique in "The Boy Who Never". His musical arrangements are pretty captivating and his poetic lyrics are most engaging. They keep singing in my mind, heart and soul during the day, at bedtime and even in my dreams. I'm glad and thankful that he made this wonderful music out of his extra-ordinary giftedness. The world is a better place because of it, since his music and its themes have a real spirituality and motivating perspective to enrich the Human Spirit. We must be kindred spirits, of sorts, I guess. I'd recommend folks give it a try and stick with it to allow it to break through with the gift of a new, deeper and higher consciousness of metaphysical values since it searches the "Great Truths" which advance the understanding of the meaning of life. "The Boy Who Never" has so much "heart" it is a living Joy. WOW!!! Excellent work, Landon! Blessed are You...Thank You!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, October 8, 2009
This review is from: The Boy Who Never (Audio CD)
This is a great album with amazing songs. Landon Pigg is the Nick Drake of our times: Highly underrated, writes all of his own stuff, and his music is timeless.

This is a more mature and melancoly album than LP, but it's so much better!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Moods, July 11, 2010

Ever since I saw the AT&T commercial that featured portions of the song, "Falling in Love in a Coffee Shop", I wondered who the artist was so I could get more of that music. I'm nearly 58 now, so I stopped listening to commercial radio at least 20 years ago. It is full of content that has been selected by the corporate music industry. There are so many formulas and enhancements to the sound that it ends up being analogous to living on a diet or pre-packaged, frozen food.

Then, one day a young friend was sharing You Tube videos of what he called "Indie" artists. I had head the term "Indie" but I thought it referred to the music and film industry from India which are known to have a large following in that part of the world. I asked why none of the groups, all of which had content that I did find interesting were from India since they were called "Indie". He laughed and said the term referred to independent artists from small recording companies who were not bound by large corporate constraints and policies.

Then, he passed on to me the video of Landon Pigg and his group performing "Falling in Love in a Coffee Shop. I was thrilled! I said I had long been wondering where that music from the AT&T commercial had come from. The video and the entire ensemble were very intriguing. I note especially the use of an old upright piano, a cello and unusual percussion. The rhythm is also engaging: duplets over an underlying triplet pattern.

As a lifelong piano technician (which may explain why I am so very selective about the music I choose to embrace), I noted that this particular song had the one and only example of single octave exposure in the midrange of any music from the 17th Century to the present. It is the first melodic line heard, played by the guitar and later joined by the piano. There are plenty of examples of single octave exposure both low and high but none that I have ever heard in the midrange as is so artfully done in this particular composition.

It is obvious that Landon Pigg is also a poet. I consider that important when I take note of a singer and songwriter. I'm afraid that the commercial music industry does not and does not offer such content over broadcast radio.

I seached the name Landon Pigg on Amazon and bought two copies of "The Boy Who Never", one for myself and one to give to a friend. I found the moods to be excellent and with variety but the overall experience is relaxing and calming.

We initially bought this cd for the Coffee Shop song, but soon realized that the entire cd is very enjoyable!! The artist sounds a bit like John Lennon in areas, but definitely has his own style!!! If you enjoy awesome easy listening music and a couple upbeat tunes thrown in as well, then this cd is for you...Enjoy!!!

The Boy Who Never is a cd of musical pieces that you listen to in the car on your way back from work after a hard day. It puts you in a peaceful state of mind (well as peaceful as on can be in traffic)and has the effect of sitting in Starbucks. But I suggest when you get out of your car, take the cd with you.
