Biography

Government Issue, or GI, debuted at the two-day Unheard Music Festival at d.c. space in December of 1980. Because their drummer was sick and unable to play the shows, they called themselves The Substitutes and invited guest-players to sit in for each of the nights. Almost every young DC punk band that played over the two nights did a cover of the Monkees' "Stepping Stone", and the GI/Substitutes'… Read more in Amazon's Government Issue Store

If you're into old school punk/hardcore,this album is NOT to be missed. You can't go wrong with the WICKED version of G.I. or Lost In Limbo. This was the BEST and one of the longest bands straight out of the D.C.Dischord anarchy 1980's.Also includes on the album the error version of Here's The Rope, where the turntable was hit during the master recording. To hear the real version of it, you will have to grab the Make An Effort cd. This album personifies the pre 1985 punk era, better than The Germes and Zero Boys, this is THE album to grab to bring back those spiky haired studded leather jacket anti-government days we all knew and loved. You will NOT be disappointed
