The Right Man for the Job,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Boylan: John A.Burns: The Man, Pa. (Latitude 20 Books) (Paperback)
John Burns wasn't the first state governor of Hawaii, but he was the longest tenured and the most loved. He served three terms (1962-1974) and got America's newest state off to an excellent start. He even helped to plan and actively supervised construction of the new state capitol building. So, who was John Burns? This in-depth study tells us that he was a beat cop with the HPD, who rose to detective, coming to know the people along the way. Life wasn't easy. His father died early in his life. He made his youthful mistakes. His wife was paralyzed by polio. But he kept on keeping on, and in the process, he won the hearts of Hawaiians and others living far away.

It was a good book, though boring at times.
