A rare gem just for boys,
By John H. Prin "Secrets are my speciality" (Minneapolis, MN United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: A Boy's Book of Daily Thoughts (Paperback)
From John Howard Prin, author of STOLEN HOURS: BREAKING FREE FROM SECRET ADDICTIONS.This is a dandy inspirational book. Written by a boy for boys (middle school age), it offers a daily thought in a brief paragraph with suggestions to ponder or apply. Despite some adult-sounding phrases and word choices, the topics appear wise and diverse. For example: "Being grateful feels good," "Siblings are a mixed blessing," "Pets are a big responsibility," "Your passion is what you love to do," and "How does dishonesty make you feel?" One of the author's poems, "I am a Child of the World," encourages his peers to think deeply and sensitively. Small enough to fit in your hand or stuff in a backpack, Jordan Storeby's book shows a boy's rare ability to express himself throughout its pages. Never sentimental, always masculine, his ideas demonstrate that young males can and do have feelings, insights, and lyrical leanings. Let's hope that many other boys his age will emulate him. What a gift that would be for us all.

wonderful book guiding and helping children or teens,
By Me (CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Boy's Book of Daily Thoughts (Paperback)
I was AMAZED at the insight and content of this book. Especially since it was written by an 11 year old! WOW- it is a collection of short insights and/or conversation starters for kids or teens. Each page has a short paragraph and followed up by a question to get the reader started in exploring the topic. They can used to help guide a child/teen in journal writing or just talking about life and living, including school related issues. I highly recommend it for teachers, counselors, AND parents.
