Britney Hits the Mark Again!, December 4, 2002
With her evolution from her teens to her young adult years, Britney Spears continues to prove that just like Madonna, she is able to change with the times. With the release of her much maturer "Britney" album, Britney has given her audience a taste of her sultry side. "Boys," which was released on the soundtrack to "Austin Powers in Goldmember" definitely is one of the year's hippest songs. For the first time Britney delves into a little R&B with the help of Pharrell Williams of the group N.E.R.D. to produce a track that not only will appeal to Britney's fanbase, but to those into urban music. Unlike singers like Mariah Carey who have slaughtered most of their songs with heavy rap and hip-hop, Britney gives us a small dosage and carries the track with her voice. While the original version of the song is good, I really enjoyed the "Co-Ed" remixes found on this single and also on the Austin Powers soundtrack. "Boys" is a single that truly shows that Britney is going to surprise her audiences with great musical collaborations and her usual style throughout the years. Great beat and great lyrics arethe highlights of this great single. The video for the song is also a treat (it has cameos by Mike Myers and DJ Qualls of the film "The New Guy") and can be found on the DVD release of the "Austin Powers in Goldmember" film. Check it out and this single as well. Britney hits gold again!

Get Nasty!, August 13, 2002
This is one of Britney's most recent steps towards music with a more hip-hop influenced edge. Whether hip-hop will embrace her remains to be unseen, but if this single is any notion to what we can expect, I'll be embracing her with arms wide open. This song is HOT!! I've always loved the album version which appeared on her third self titled cd Britney, but the co-ed remix makes it sizzle. Featured on the track is Pharrell Williams from N.E.R.D. (aka The Neptunes) who adds something quite new to Britney's music. Making the song more funky and more mature, the co-ed remix is a great song to get up and dance to. I would recommend everyone buy this single. If not for the new remixed single, get it for the album version which still remains to be one of Britney's best songs. The single would have been better with the awesome video included, but I'm still hoping a DVD with all of Britney's videos including Boys will be released sometime soon.
