5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT STUFF DKM
I have been a fan of punk now for about six years and I have a lot of albums by a lot of different bands. I have got to say that this album by Dropkick is of of the best I own. They rock out on every song on the album and keep ya really going. This is a truly great album for any loyal punk fan to buy. If you are even slightly thinking about it, buy it. Great job...

3.0 out of 5 stars Dropkick it
If you want the 5 star version of this cd just get "Do or Die" by the Murphys. You get Most of the songs from this cd plus many more kiler songs like Barroom Hero and Caught in a Jar. This cd is good but you'd be missing out if you didn't get Do or Die.

5.0 out of 5 stars BUY! BUY! BUY!, June 25, 1999

This CD is a must have, that is if you already own "Do or Die" and "Gangs all here". The original version of the song "boys on the docks" rocks, and "Caps and Bottles" and "Front Seat" are also great songs.

Although this record only came out a few years ago, the Dropkick Murphys have gone through a few major changes. Singer Mike McColgan departed for the Boston Fire Department, later to be replaced by Bruiser and Bostonian Al Barr, original guitarist Rick Barton, who was in his late 30's, settled down with his wife, opening two doors for James Lynch and Marc Orrell, and Ryan Foltz and Spicy McHaggis joined the crew. The Murphy's sound has evolved into a more accessible, more modern punk with a bit more traditional Irish flavor.

This album is a short and sweet showcase of the original DKM power. I personally favor Mike over Al, not because of talent level, but of the personality he gives the songs he sings. He has a raw, scratchy, yet perfect punk voice.

If you're a hardcore DKM fan, you probably already know all about this album. If you are a new fan, check this out. Welcome Mike McColgan into your ears and let loose with this. "Caps and Bottles" is the best thing ever, and so is "Front Seat" .... Not very radio friendly (a good thing), but excellent party music and a nice visit back to the early days of the band. It is too bad the DKM shows I've been to have omitted playing these songs other than "Boys on the Docks".

4.0 out of 5 stars great music by a great band, October 19, 2000

first off i wanna say that i have been a fan of DKM for a few years now and they kick ass. but i am sick of people saying that it is skinhead punk. it is not, it is good irish punk rock. some of the band memebers may be skinheads but that does not make them bad people. they are anti-racist...yes there is a difference. the nazi-skins (a small group) give the anti-racist skins a bad name. anyway enough of my rambling. if you like punk music then this is an album you have gotta get. Dropkick Murphys are amazing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect EP, March 3, 2003

This is everything a good punk EP should be: short, raw,and well-performed. This was DKM's first ever release, and it contains early recordings of "Boys on the Docks", and "Never Alone", which are on their debut LP, Do or Die,but in different versions. It also contains an early version of "Caps and Bottles", which didn't reappear until Sing Loud, Sing Proud. The other songs are "In the Streets of Boston", "Euro Trash", and "Front Seat". Even though this disc only has a grand total of 6 songs, I still consider it a legitimate DKM album, because it's 6 GOOD songs. I was lucky enough to find this in a local record store this past summer, but it's not the easiest Murphys album to find...so get it while you can!

I've waited forever for this CD and I must admit...I am NOT upset. Although the production could've been better, this CD is great with an amazing version(and the original) of Boys on the Docks. DKM rule and this CD is a must buy.

This is a great album. Euro trash is a really great song. These guys are one of the best street punk bands out there today. Just because there is a skinhead factor doesnt mean that they are nazis or racists so dont be afraid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yep., November 3, 2001

Okay Blah Blah I just love seeing reviews about these guys and having the band reviewed as right wing Skinhead music. The one guy who gave it 1 star watches to many news specials and allows his political views to overide his enjoyment of good punk. He has obviously never listened to or heard of Skrewdriver or The Klansmen, I do believe that he may reconsider his views on the Murphy's if he had ever heard real white pride music He just feels like being righteous and thinks he can drag everyone into his "world". The Murphy's are and always have been "Skinhead" music, just not neccessarily "Nazi" music. There are a lot of other ideals that "skinheads" hold. Working, making an honest living, supporting/ spending time with your family (the reason Mike McColgan left the band), not turning your back on your friends, unity, solidarity....etc. I gave up on the shaved head thing 8 years ago, but my views are still strong. The Dropkick Murphy's have been a large part of my music rotation for 4 years because not only are they excellent musicians (and I mean all versions of the band) they have some things to say as well. Boys On The Docks ep is a great early starting point for a band that has evolved well over the years. This ep is very strong working class punk (not that snotty So. Cal. crap that all the kids think is punk these days). Long live free speech, and whats so bad about having pride and honor about who and what you are anyway. So buy this album if you love good, old fasioned Oi! or if you are just proud to be who you are and want music that supports your feelings. Have a pint on me!
