Pre-Mature Greatest Hits Bring Back Memories,
By A Customer
This review is from: Bad Boy's Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
During the mid to late '90s, Bad Boy Entertainment took over East Coast rap while Death Row's West Coast sound went downhill post-2Pac, post-Snoop Doggy Dogg, and post-Dr. Dre. Sean "Puffy" Combs along with his Hitmen producers showed enough verve to storm the charts. Bad Boy's roster of talented young artists simply shine in this somewhat pre-mature Greatest Hits CD.Where this album loses points is the irrelevant Mad Rapper interludes, which could have been filled with other missed Bad Boy hit singles (Notorious B.I.G. "Big Poppa", Faith Evans "Soon As I Get Home", Total "Kissing You", etc.). Plus the addition of new music from a young singer named Jerome ("Too Old For Me") wasn't even necessary. Aside from these small errors in judgement, the hits here bring back memories from my high school days. Of the hits, Notorious B.I.G.'s "One More Chance/Stay With Me" (remix) is the definite standout. It reminds you of what could been of raw and talented Biggie. My other favorites include 112's "Only You" remix with B.I.G. & Mase, Faith Evans "You Used to Love Me", and Craig Mack's "Flava In Ya Ear" remix (by the way, the guest rappers make Craig Mack look like the guest on his own track). "Bad Boy Greatest Hits vol. 1" definitely belongs in your CD player for the simple reason that it's like '90s nostalgia...a statement of the record label's rise to stardom. A 3 star project at best.

Good, but they should have waited,
By A Customer
This review is from: Bad Boy's Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I agree with Major Coinz on this one that they should have waited a couple more years but, I do have to admit every track on here is pretty hot. All in all, Bad Boy will definately have a Volume 2 in no time.

An urban music time capsule,
By hiphopforlife (Dunnellon, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bad Boy's Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This album is not only the peak of Bad Boy Entertainment, but maybe the last bastion of good commercial rap and R&B there is. Every song on the album is a winner; Puffy deserves a strong pound for creating this great music. Now only if he can return to glory..........
