Hot, Spicy, Humor,

This review is from: The Bad Boys Guide to the Galaxy (Planet Nerak, Book 3) (Paperback)
This is Karen's third book in her Alien series, but it also can be read as a stand alone. Although if you have not read any in this series you have missed a real treat. Karen has given the reader a hot, fantastic read, but with her trademark humor shining through.Sam Jones, a cop, was headed for a well deserved holiday with nothing but rest and relaxation, at his cabin in East Texas or so he thought. The best laid plans can go astray as he is about to find out when he stops at his partner's apartment first. Lara, a healer from the planet Nerak and a sister to Kia, Sam's partner Nick's wife lands on the roof of the apartment block in her craft. This alien had come to do research for plants that would heal one of the Elder's. Plants that could not be found in the City, but Sam was headed for the country so it would be no problem for her to go with him. Now the fun begins, Lara has never been off the planet Nerak, so many new things are encountered and must be tried in the name of research . She was beautiful and rankled Sam to no end with her haughty attitude. How could you want to kiss her, comfort her and kill her all at the same time. Now if she would only keep her clothes on, how was a man to resist her. The antics that follow will have the reader laughing out loud, with each introduction to new things - chocolate, sex, alcohol, and did we mention sex. We also find out that there are more aliens in the area, and the story takes an unforeseen twist - where aliens are involved one should always expect the unexpected. Karen has put together an fantastic read. It has scenes so hot that it scorches the pages, so funny that you laugh out loud, unexpected turns with interplanetary travel and the planet Nerak. I would recommend this read to anyone, and am eagerly looking forward to the next book to see where this talented author is taking us. If you have not read the first two books, Close Encounters of the Sexy Kind and Cosmic Sex then you have missed two other great reads and will not be disappointed.

Wonderful story,
This review is from: The Bad Boys Guide to the Galaxy (Planet Nerak, Book 3) (Paperback)
Lara, the highly regarded healer from Nerak, comes to Earth to find a medicine for one of the Nerakian Elders, who is ill from an earthling sickness. When she visits her sister Kia, she mets the cop, Sam Jones. He is on his way to a much needed vacation or so he thought, because Lara decides to join him. He can help her with her search for the plant. Everything would be perfect if her stubbornness and her opinion that Nerakians are the superior beings wouldn't drive Sam crazy.Ms. Kelley is a very gifted author, who knows how to combine hot spicy elements with her unique kind of humor and the result is a story like no other you have ever read before. We've already met Sam, the hero, in COSMIC SEX, where he was already an intriguing secondary character, but now in his own story, he is absolutely to die for. Lara's uppity and how she treats Sam will sometimes make you want to wring her neck, but in the end she makes it up with her funny way of discovering the delights of the life on earth, like chocolate or sex. The book gives the reader a first real view of the life on Nerak and introduces new characters, which I guess will play an important role in the upcoming books of the Planet Nerak series. Ms. Kelley really knows how to keep her readers more curious about how the series continues. THE BAD BOYS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY is the third book in Karen Kelley's alien series. The book can be read as a stand-alone, but I can tell you that you will pick up the first two books if you haven't read them. The books are addictive. So if you are looking for a funny and sexy book to brighten up your day, THE BAD BOYS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY is the perfect book for you. Courtesy of Loveromances and More!

A delight,
By Judy "book reader" (Cincinnati, ohio United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Bad Boys Guide to the Galaxy (Planet Nerak, Book 3) (Paperback)
The Bad Boys Guide To The Galaxy is another fun and romantic story from Karen Kelley.Lara a highly regarded healer from the planet Nerak, comes to Earth after one of the Elders becomes sick. When earthlings snuck back to Nerak after the last expedition they brought back an illness. Lara must enlist the help of local cop Sam Jones to search for healing plants. Sam Jones just wants a must needed vacation. When his partner Nick asks for his help with is girlfriend's sister he can't refuse. Sam thought he was prepared for another alien woman but there is something about Lara that pulls him into her world. It doesn't hurt that Lara likes to run around naked. Lara and Sam are total opposites that are out of this world sexy and wickedly funny. Karen Kelley has created some of the funniest books on any planet.

The Bad Boys Guide to the Galaxy,
This review is from: The Bad Boys Guide to the Galaxy (Planet Nerak, Book 3) (Paperback)
Sam Jones is a police officer. His best friend Nick is his partner. Nick's fiancée Kia is an alien from the planet Nerak. When Sam stops by Nick's apartment before leaving on vacation, Kia's sister Lara arrives by spaceship. Lara is a healer on Nerak. She has come to Earth to find a plant that will cure an Elder on Nerak who has become ill. Sam reluctantly takes the high and mighty Lara to his cabin in the country to find the right plant. Lara is beautiful and sexy but she's also uppity and stubborn, and she drives Sam crazy.Lara learns many things during her stay on Earth, including how good sex is and how deliciously addicting chocolate can be! She's going to miss them when she has to return to Nerak. She's going to miss Sam most of all though. Lara can't stay on Earth, and Sam can't go to Nerak. Now that she's learned about love, will Lara be able to say goodbye? Karen Kelly pens a story full of laughs and hot sex with The Bad Boys Guide to the Galaxy. It's just as good as the previous books in this series, Cosmic Sex and Close Encounters of the Sexy Kind. Lara's sexual and culinary education is both entertaining and hot. Sam is noble. But what's a guy to do when a gorgeous and sexy naked woman demands sex from him? Give it to her of course! There is a lot of chemistry between Lara and Sam. It's not just fun between the sheets. Their strong connection goes beyond sex. The Bad Boys Guide to the Galaxy is an out-of-this-world, fun, and sexy romp! Nannette Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

Book 3 in the Planet Nerak series,
By
This review is from: The Bad Boys Guide to the Galaxy (Planet Nerak, Book 3) (Paperback)
Karen Kelley's latest series features various female characters from the planet Nerak who find themselves on Earth and trying to make sense of the differences between their world and ours. Nerak comes across as a very sterile, boring place with no men and no pain or pleasure. In this third book in the series our hero, policeman Sam Jones, finds himself babysitting a Nerakian Healer who has come to Earth to try to find a cure for an earth-borne disease that has been transported to Nerak with some of the visitors. The Healer, Lara, believes she will be able to find the cure from some of Earth's plants and so, as Nick and Kia (heroes of the last book) live in the city which is rather short of plants, Sam is persuaded to take Lara with him to his cabin in the middle of nowhere.Lara is a very uptight and superior-seeming woman who knows she's beautiful and who thinks everything about Earth is inferior. However as she is introduced to some of the delights of earthly things - chocolate, gambling, showers, sex - she begins to re-evaluate her initial assumptions. When it's time for her to return to Nerak will she be able to leave Sam and can he manage without her in his life? Karen Kelley's writing style is reasonably paced and with some amusing events. However the overall effect of this book was somewhat disappointing. The novelty of watching Nerakians come to terms with Americans has rather worn off, now this is the third book, and Sam's character didn't feel defined enough for the reader to really get behind him. Lara came across as rather selfish and some aspects of the plot weren't entirely resolved. I assume we will see more of the characters in a future book but I wasn't inspired enough by this one to search out any others by this author. A Fun Alien Novel,
By Traci King (Indianapolis, IN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Bad Boys Guide to the Gala (Mass Market Paperback)
I had a lot of fun reading this series. By the third novel it did get a little repetitive and the scenes were not as funny as they would have been had I not read the rest of this series. I realize that Lara was uppity and conceited, and therefore hard to like, but that is the culture she was from and it would have made no sense if she accepted compliments or acted in any other way. Her superiority complex was due to her training and experience. You can't judge a person (alien) by the way we live and what we consider normal behavior. Having said that, this book lacked the excitement and humor of the other two only because it was a been there done that story. Nevertheless, I still liked Sam and understood Lara and found some of the new characters interesting. I doubt if there is more to this series, but I would love to see stories about some of the other Narakians and find out what happens when the planet is infiltrated with men. Now that could really be funny. I'm going to keep reading Karen Kelley for her great sense of humor, because most of my paranormal novels take themselves so serious that I rarely have a chance to laugh let alone smile at anything in the story. Ms. Kelley is a great relief from all the tension and drama of my other series.

I feel very different,
This review is from: The Bad Boys Guide to the Gala (Mass Market Paperback)
I think this book could have been a lot better, but for the life of me I could not like Lara. It's hard to like a romance book when you can't relate to the main character. She was one of thee absolute most conceited female leads I think I've ever read about. I just wanted to smack her sometimes and make her realize that she's not the best. I liked Sam, but couldn't figure out why he liked her so much. He knew what she looked like for so long, and thought he was "in love" with her, but only because he thought she was pretty. Then when he finally meets her and finds out what a criticizing, prissy, selfish, conceited b*tch she was, you'd think he would say, Whoa, she's not as great as I thought she was. I shouldn't judge based on appearance.Nope! In fact, in the sex scenes, he keeps trying to resist her, but can't, because she's sooo pretty and her skin is so soft and her legs are so this and her hair is so that and blah blah blah blah. What, was he 16? The plot was very interesting, just not Lara.

humorous science fiction romance,
This review is from: The Bad Boys Guide to the Galaxy (Planet Nerak, Book 3) (Paperback)
Texas police officer Sam Jones sort of knows what to expect from a Nerakian so he wants to say no, but he reluctantly agrees to escort Lara to his cabin. In spite of his expectations, Sam is stunned by his reaction to Lara and her nakedness.Lara has come to Earth on a mercy mission; she seeks the cure for a beloved sick elder; her planet is unused to illness having none. Before arriving on earth she was aware of the temptations, she vowed to ignore all especially chocolate. However, she is unprepared for spending a weekend with Sam especially since she believes Nerakians are superior beings. The latest Nerakian ET invasion is like its predecessors (see CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF A SEXY KIND) a humorous science fiction romance. The zany story line is fun to follow as the earth cop and the "medical" alien are unable to adhere to their personal pledges due to the magnetic attraction of opposites being stronger than the greatest force in the universe: chocolate. Fans of the series will especially enjoy this fine entry as Karen Kelley provides insider information re planet Nerak. Harriet Klausner |
