This review is from: Bad Boys Next Exit (Paperback)
Bad Boys Next Exit brings together three steamy stories.Shannon McKenna's Meltdown has headhunter Jane Duvall having a meeting with the general manager of the Crowne Royale Group of hotels posing as a travel writer. But the GM is called away and instead she meets the CEO Michael "Mac" McNamara. Their attraction is explosive and Jane decides to indulge in a fantasy with Mac. Mac cannot get Jane out of his mind after their initial fiery meeting. They agree to meet again and it's a night of passion and betrayals. Shannon McKenna writes another highly erotic story. Jane and Mac will be remembered for their fire, passion and heart. Exposed by Donna Kauffman has two strangers meeting on a train. Delilah Hudson was on vacation taking pictures as she travels. Del meets fellow photographer Austin Morgan. Austin is returning home after his abusive fathers death. Del and Austin connect on so many levels. Their passion is all consuming but can they make it past the train ride. Ms. Kauffman's story is so titillating, a very enjoyable read. Pure Ginger by E.C. Sheedy has Ginger Cameron trying to change her image. Gone are the sexy outfits, over the top ways and most of all drop dead gorgeous men. This proves to be a problem when for her PR firm she meets Cal Beaumann, who wants to hire Ginger. Cal is thrown by this frumpy looking woman. Ginger is not what he envisioned helping him launch his new cinema. But Cal sees beneath Gingers tone down look to see the real woman inside. Cal and Ginger have a connection that leaps off the page. Bad Boys Next Exit is a great addition to the Bad Boys stories.

McKenna's tale gives the drive,
By Desmond Chan (Bishan North Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bad Boys Next Exit (Paperback)
While the Bad Boys anthologies have managed to send the romantics onto the highway of escapism, the route is getting a tad too formulaic and predictable so much so that we have trouble inkling the works to the authors. Haven't they done this story in the last book? Bad Boys Next Exit clearly follows the safe path that have garnered predecessors the popularity. The best out of the three tale clearly belongs to Shannon McKenna's Meltdown where headhunter Jane Duvall experiences raw passion with hotelier Mac McNamara when she poses incognito to poach his management staff. The usual routine of boy meets girl gets revitalized by McKenna's consummate writing and luscious emotions manifested in the two textured characters who gets caught up in a whirlwind affair. Donna Kauffman's Exposed tells of two strangers' romantic interlude in a train while E.C Sheedy offers plenty of sass in redhead and PR specialist Ginger Cameron, who wants to be taken serious by ex-soap opera hunk Cal Beaumann enough to clinch the deal to promote his cinema. McKenna's gem of a tale gives this anthology the much needed momentum and drive to prevent it from heading towards deadening predictability.

Meltdown an absolute scorcher!,
This review is from: Bad Boys Next Exit (Paperback)
I bought this book because Shannon McKenna was part of the anthology. I was not disappointed. This story is a new favorite of mine! Jane Duvall is a corporate headhunter who tries to steal an employee from Michael McNamara's hotel. They are attracted to each other, but Jane has trouble letting down her guard and Michael also has issues with being vulnerable. The characters are intense, with an alpha male hero who knows what he wants and a shy heroine who feels he won't want the real her. The sex scenes almost melted my eyelashes! Definitely read this one!Unfortunately, I was disappointed after that. "Meltdown" was 130 pages and I would have preferred it to be a stand-alone book. "Exposed" by Donna Kauffman was approximately 90 pages, not enough time to get into the characters. It's about two people stranded on a train during Christmas. The mutual attraction causes them to make for the sleeper car to explore the attraction. There was a little too much internal dialogue and the sex scenes were bland compared to "Meltdown". The last story, "Pure Ginger" by E.C. Sheedy, was even shorter at 80 pages. Ginger Cameron is a woman with a history of falling for bad men. She gives herself a dowdy makeover and resolves to be celibate for the next 2 years. Enter Cal Beaumann, an owner of a new movie theater who hires Ginger to do the PR. At first, reluctant to hire Ginger because of her marmish appearance, he becomes intrigued with the woman behind the facade. He pursues her and she stuggles with wanting him and wanting to keep her resolution. The couple definitely threw off sparks and had chemistry. I would have enjoyed it more if the story were longer. I think it would have been better if "Meltdown" was last. Unfortunately, it was the best and a hard act to follow.
