Oh The Bad Boys Are Back,

This review is from: Bad Boys Next Exit (Paperback)
Bad Boys Next Exit brings together three steamy stories.Shannon McKenna's Meltdown has headhunter Jane Duvall having a meeting with the general manager of the Crowne Royale Group of hotels posing as a travel writer. But the GM is called away and instead she meets the CEO Michael "Mac" McNamara. Their attraction is explosive and Jane decides to indulge in a fantasy with Mac. Mac cannot get Jane out of his mind after their initial fiery meeting. They agree to meet again and it's a night of passion and betrayals. Shannon McKenna writes another highly erotic story. Jane and Mac will be remembered for their fire, passion and heart. Exposed by Donna Kauffman has two strangers meeting on a train. Delilah Hudson was on vacation taking pictures as she travels. Del meets fellow photographer Austin Morgan. Austin is returning home after his abusive fathers death. Del and Austin connect on so many levels. Their passion is all consuming but can they make it past the train ride. Ms. Kauffman's story is so titillating, a very enjoyable read. Pure Ginger by E.C. Sheedy has Ginger Cameron trying to change her image. Gone are the sexy outfits, over the top ways and most of all drop dead gorgeous men. This proves to be a problem when for her PR firm she meets Cal Beaumann, who wants to hire Ginger. Cal is thrown by this frumpy looking woman. Ginger is not what he envisioned helping him launch his new cinema. But Cal sees beneath Gingers tone down look to see the real woman inside. Cal and Ginger have a connection that leaps off the page. Bad Boys Next Exit is a great addition to the Bad Boys stories.

McKenna's tale gives the drive,
By Desmond Chan (Bishan North Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bad Boys Next Exit (Paperback)
While the Bad Boys anthologies have managed to send the romantics onto the highway of escapism, the route is getting a tad too formulaic and predictable so much so that we have trouble inkling the works to the authors. Haven't they done this story in the last book? Bad Boys Next Exit clearly follows the safe path that have garnered predecessors the popularity. The best out of the three tale clearly belongs to Shannon McKenna's Meltdown where headhunter Jane Duvall experiences raw passion with hotelier Mac McNamara when she poses incognito to poach his management staff. The usual routine of boy meets girl gets revitalized by McKenna's consummate writing and luscious emotions manifested in the two textured characters who gets caught up in a whirlwind affair. Donna Kauffman's Exposed tells of two strangers' romantic interlude in a train while E.C Sheedy offers plenty of sass in redhead and PR specialist Ginger Cameron, who wants to be taken serious by ex-soap opera hunk Cal Beaumann enough to clinch the deal to promote his cinema. McKenna's gem of a tale gives this anthology the much needed momentum and drive to prevent it from heading towards deadening predictability.

Meltdown an absolute scorcher!,
This review is from: Bad Boys Next Exit (Paperback)
I bought this book because Shannon McKenna was part of the anthology. I was not disappointed. This story is a new favorite of mine! Jane Duvall is a corporate headhunter who tries to steal an employee from Michael McNamara's hotel. They are attracted to each other, but Jane has trouble letting down her guard and Michael also has issues with being vulnerable. The characters are intense, with an alpha male hero who knows what he wants and a shy heroine who feels he won't want the real her. The sex scenes almost melted my eyelashes! Definitely read this one!Unfortunately, I was disappointed after that. "Meltdown" was 130 pages and I would have preferred it to be a stand-alone book. "Exposed" by Donna Kauffman was approximately 90 pages, not enough time to get into the characters. It's about two people stranded on a train during Christmas. The mutual attraction causes them to make for the sleeper car to explore the attraction. There was a little too much internal dialogue and the sex scenes were bland compared to "Meltdown". The last story, "Pure Ginger" by E.C. Sheedy, was even shorter at 80 pages. Ginger Cameron is a woman with a history of falling for bad men. She gives herself a dowdy makeover and resolves to be celibate for the next 2 years. Enter Cal Beaumann, an owner of a new movie theater who hires Ginger to do the PR. At first, reluctant to hire Ginger because of her marmish appearance, he becomes intrigued with the woman behind the facade. He pursues her and she stuggles with wanting him and wanting to keep her resolution. The couple definitely threw off sparks and had chemistry. I would have enjoyed it more if the story were longer. I think it would have been better if "Meltdown" was last. Unfortunately, it was the best and a hard act to follow.

The Bad Boys series by Brava is one of my favorites. They feature the best authors and the hottest stories and this one is no exception.1. Meltdown by Shannon Mckenna is about headhunter Jane Duvall. She pretends to be a magazine writer to infiltrate a hotel and possibly steal away one of their executives. During her masquerade, she meets CEO Mac McNamara and they have instant chemistry that ignites during her tour of the hotel's penthouse. But Mac knows that she is lying and given his own history with women, Mac doesn't know if he can trust her. 2. Exposed by Donna Kauffman is about Delilah Hudson who is stranded on a train with Austin. Luckily, they are both photographers and have more than that in common. Soon Delilah and Austin are happily ensconced in his private sleeping car. Austin knows that Delilah is someone special and wants to keep her with him, even after the train starts up. 3. Pure Ginger is by EC Sheedy. Ginger is the head of a publicity business and she is all business. Due to some past relationship mistakes, she has sworn off men and has reinvented herself to be a plain, serious businesswoman. But Cal Beaumann is considering hiring her to promote his business and wants a more sexy image and knows that Ginger is just the women for him. All three books were good stories with great couples. Shannon Mckenna's story was by far the best one..it had more likeable characters and they had more chemistry. Bad boys Next Exit wasn't as good as the previous books in this series, but a solid effort for fans of the Bad Boys books.

I Love This Series!!!!,

This review is from: Bad Boys Next Exit (Paperback)
This is a great series published by Brava and so far none of them have let me down. This is the first in which my favorite Ms. Foster does not have a short story included. Despite this this book is well worth reading. I'm not going to go into great detail on the sysnopsis of each story since that has already been done and done well at that. In any event Ms. McKenna's (who is on my automatic buying list) short story was my favorite and I can only hope has plans with will include the rest of Mac's family (hint, hint...) sooner rather than later. With that said I must go on record that none of the stories in this anthology are weak. All of them are real strong, with great characters (yummy alpha male heros, not taking any sass heroines!) and fun storylines. And they are all three steamy in their own right. For a fast but fun read you can't go wrong with any of the "Bad Boy" series!!!

As a reader of all the "Bad Boy" titles, this one was by far the best. I especially enjoyed Shannon Mckenna's story, "Meltdown". This story was unbelievably erotic and I hope there will be a story about both secondary characters also.Donna Kauffman's, "Exposed" was equally intriguing, centered around two strangers who meet on a train in a snowstorm.. all I can say is "Wow". This was one trilogy I could not put down.. I read it in just a few hours.

Mixed Bag - two very good, one horrible,

I've read every bad boys anthology out there and this one has two very good stories and one that is just horrible. McKenna has let me down once again and I don't think I'll ever read anything by her anymore. Her stuff is slightly disturbing and doesn't belong with any of the other authors I've read in the other anthologies.
McKenna's story is about a Jane Duvall, head hunter, who is out to land a big account by stealing/wooing away any employee of Mac MacNamara's. That is until she meets him and all bets are off. The sexual tension crackles and soon her job is the last thing on mind. Kauffman steams it up with a couple of strangers stuck on a train in a blizzard. Soon the storms over and the strangers part, but will it be the end? Can they go back to their jobs and pretend this was just a train trist? Or do they dare want more? Sheedy's heroine's on a mission, to 'beige-up' her wardrobe and stop wearing those sexy outfits that keep attracting the wrong kind of men. With her PR firm she meets the sexy ex-soap star hero who can see right through her librarian clothes. Just getting her out of them and into his arms maybe a tough battle. Koudos to Sheedy and Kauffman for two very good and *HOT* stories as usual. I especially liked Kauffman's romantic ending -very touching. Now to McKenna. Her stuff is just down-right disturbing. She takes male domineering a bit too far. As she did in a previous anothology I've read, the hero tends to prevent the female from leaving and makes her 'submit' to him. Yeah, she gets her *pleasure*, but bullying her *ALOT*?. YUCK! The demands the hero makes are too much and it leaves the reader feeling creeped-out instead of steemed-up and sighing. The love scenes are too soon too, barley any build-up compared to the other's I've read. That's not what I want from my romances. I'm not a prude, but I just can't see what other reviewers are calling steamy when it involves some disturbing behavior. Get this one from the library and skip McKenna's story. For an excellent Bad Boys Anthology try: Bad Boys in Black Tie

WOW!!!,
This review is from: Bad Boys Next Exit (Paperback)
Just finished this book. I have to say, the first one, Meltdown, was really fabulous. I read it one sitting. The heroine, Jane is hilarious and wonderful. And the sex scenes really sizzled. The other two stories were okay too, but I definitely think the first one was the absolute best!

Shannon McKenna: Meltdown
Jane Duvall is a 'headhunter' stealing employees from other companies. But when she tries that with one of Michael McNamara's employees, she finds herself up-close-and-personal with him in one of his hotel suites. A really hot encounter ensues... A great, very erotic story. I generally like Shannon McKenna's stories, and I definitely enjoyed this one. Donna Kauffman: Exposed A train with a load of people trying to get home for Christmas is stopped by a snowstorm . Among them are two photographers who decide to have a fling, no strings attached, while they are stuck in the middle of nowhere. But they soon feel that they might want more than an affair... This story has some atmosphere, but otherwise I didn't find it very appealing. Part of the problem is that it's one of those stories in which the writer tries really hard to interest you in the stories about the lead character's relatives she has published in other books. In this case, this went on my nerves since any depth was only hinted at but not inside the story I had bought. E. C. Sheedy; Pure Ginger Ginger Cameron is attractive and has always dressed accordingly - until another man drops her and she decides to become celibate and look unattractive to find Mister Right - a man who looks beyond surface appearances. That turns into a problem when Cal Beaumann is less than pleased to find out that the woman he hired to design a campaign for his new cinema looks as hip as a granny. He also can't really understand why he feels attracted to her despite her awful looks and abrasive tone... This story was pure fun and I actually enjoyed it so much that I went and bought more of Sheedy's books. A definite winner. |
