3.0 out of 5 stars The "Skyy" is falling, June 18, 2010
This review is from: Boys' Night Out (Audio Cassette)
A short-lived 80s R&B-funk group founded and produced by Randy Muller, much renowned for his work with the famed funk outfits Skyy and Brass Construction, First Circle released this, their debut album in late 1986 and had one charting single in early '87 with the "Workin' Up A Sweat." Though not really a bad album by any stretch of the imagination, it's somewhat bland and melodically uncreative, and really doesn't work up the kind of sweat that characterizes some of the great funk anthems of Skyy and Brass Construction.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brass Construction's Randy Muller delivered the goods on this one., October 28, 2011
I was pleasantly surprised to see this one released on CD. Having the highly-treasured vinyl copy from 1986 in my possession for many years, this came as a bit of a shock to me. Getting past the radio and club hits 'Working Up A Sweat' and 'Miracle Worker' (which are standouts in their own right), please give a listen to the mid-tempo jam 'Can't Find A Love' and try to understand why this wasn't a hit in its' day. Still sounding remarkably fresh some twenty-odd years after release, you won't be disappointed with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bangin' Funk from the Longtime Producer of Skyy and Brass Construction!, February 8, 2011
By
Starr S. (Portland, Maine) - See all my reviews
Featuring the hit singles, "Workin' Up A Sweat" and "Miracle Worker," this all male outfit courtesy of Randy Muller, longtime producer of the Funk/R&B bands, Skyy and Brass Construction, bangs out one funky joint after another. With only one ballad in the mix, you are destined to get your groove on from start 2 finish plus a slow dance! Courtesy of Funkytowngrooves, there are extra remixes of the two hit singles as well. Don't sleep on this one. It's HOT and it's the perfect audio companion for that "Boys Night Out."
