Book Description

Parenting is not for wimps.

In fact, it's a miracle that anyone can raise a kid and stay sane at the same time. And every parent knows that sometimes you just have to wing it.

Dave Meurer says he's no parenting professional. But he is the father of two rambunctious boys. In this delightful read, you'll find helpful tips, hilarious observations, and profound reflections on bringing up boys--not to mention accounts of inane outbursts, incredulous questions, and stunned exclamations.

With unique insight and loads of fun, Meurer shares those things that drive parents crazy--and the things that make the adventure well worth the ride.

Dave Meurer is the father of two sons and the author of several books, including The Hair-Raising Joys of Raising Boys. He lives in northern California.

I picked this up because I have a friend with 2 young boys and she often tell funny stories about their antics and I wanted to see how they compared. Well, I laughed so hard that halfway through the book I called her and told her she needed to read it. I laughed until I cried!

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh Out Loud March 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Dave has a way of making the reader laugh out loud one minute and get choked up the next. Any parent with a son (mine is 9) will love this book. You will be encouraged, entertained, and inspired. Buy it for yourself and for everyone who know who's raising boys.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Enjoying this: January 29, 2014

I really enjoyed Dave's rant about helping his wife in the kitchen and getting kicked out only to keep helpfully shouting suggestions from the sofa. What I learned from this book is if you can't at first entertain you're never going to be able to help your son enjoy emulating anything good you've ever done so expect him to do everything you didn't want him to copy.

My sister still has nightmares about relaxing in a steamy bath and hearing these words coming from a six-year-old on the other side of the bathroom door. You guessed it! She has a son.

I read this book two years ago and reread it this morning. I swear it's even funnier than I remember. Anyone who thinks raising boys and girls is the same job doesn't know much. My mother had three daughters and thought she had the parenting thing down pat. Then she had two sons (very close in age) who quickly transformed our house into a zoo. If you have a son or sons, you'll find plenty in here that will bring back fond (and maybe not-so-fond) memories. And If you have only daughters, here's your chance to see what you missed.

I love the delightful new cover picture and I love this book.

Dave Meurer writes a great, entertaining book about the joys of having boys. This book is quite a fun read and I really enjoyed it. Small quick chapter's helps you fly through the book, and the stories are simply hilarious. I really enjoyed each chapter. I also really liked that Meurer also includes bible versus to prove his points, or to simply remind him and the reader that Christ is in control.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has had, or is having sons.
