Perfect size and nice styling made this a super addition to our compact kitchen. But within a few weeks the cheap flimsy plastic latch broke. The spring loaded hook snapped off and now it is always open because the spring action keeps it that way. We're not really sure what to do with it but at $50 we certainly expected more. Very disappointed. How complex can it be to design a bread bin that is robust and made to last?

I too had a latch break as the plastic locking pins are at a very inconvenient position on the door that it is very easy to catch them upon removing or inserting bread in the box, but I did contact the vendor's site and they sent me out two repair kits (one as a spare) and so far I have not used the second replacement. The size is adequate for a normal grocery store loaf of sliced bread with room to spare in front for some other things, and the top is about the size of the same loaf of bread so about half of the lost counterspace can be reclaimed. If only they would have designed it with a magnetic lock insead of the plastic grabbers it would be a five star box
