Buy the Dymo Rhinopro 5000 instead - DO NOT waste your money on the ID Pal,
By Buy the Dymo Rhinopro 5000 instead - DO NOT waste your money on the ID Pal I bought this 13 months ago for all my home project wire labeling needs. I am very easy on all the equipment I buy. This label maker turned out to be a waste of money. It is very light duty. The label maker is poorly constructed... The cartridges require a lot of force to insert and remove and if a small amount of label tape is sticking out of the cartridge when you are inserting or removing the cartridge you can damage the cartridge so the cartridge will not feed correctly. My ID Pal stopped feeding the tape out of the cartridge when I would try to print. I would just hear the whir of the motor and the small display would say "printing" but the label was not being printed. I finally took the case apart and I found the cheap nylon drive gear on the motor was split and spinning on the motor drive shaft. I emailed Brady and here is their reply: ======================================================== " Bob , Per your email request Unfortunately we do not have replacement gears for this printer. The cost to service, repair costs is more then the value of a new printer. Our labor cost is $100.00 per hour a new printer is $99.00, reason being we have no need to inventory parts. The printer comes with a standard 1 year warranty replacement" ======================================================== So, don't waste your money on this label maker buy the Dymo Rhino Pro 5000. My company has several of the Dymo Rhino Pro 5000s and they are awesome label makers and you can buy them here on Amazon for same price as this Brady ID Pal piece of junk. The 5000 will even make heat shrink labels too. TIP: I use vinyl label tape to permanently label my wires P/N 18443, 18444 and 18445
