Pure Jazz Trumpet Gold, July 22, 2008

This album introduced me to Ruby Braff and his trumpet during the early 60's. I had the good fortune to interview him when he came into Windsor, Ontario with Tony Bennett. He was not nationally known outside of New York jazz circles at that time. He could take any standard jazz tune and make you feel as though you were hearing it for the first time. This album, for me, is the epitome of his talent even though it was recorded during his early years in the business. You can hear the man's heart and soul in every note. Don't pass this one up!
