Don't miss the glorious third symphony, January 26, 2000
This review is from: Braga Santos: Symphonies Nos. 3 And 6 (Audio CD)
I wholehearted concur with the review below. It's a sign of our bland musical culture that Braga Santos' thoroughly memorable 3rd symphony has probably never been performed by a US orchestra.
Get this disk to see what your missing. As with the reviewer below, the 6th is far less memorable and likely to be played once and forgotten. 40 minutes of this worthwhile music is pricey, but this is the only game in town. Still, the game is worth the cost. Now, hopefully so enterprizing conductor will catch on. The 3rd is a sure crowd pleaser!

Buy it for the wonderful late-romantic 3rd symphony, September 12, 1999
This review is from: Braga Santos: Symphonies Nos. 3 And 6 (Audio CD)
A real discovery! The 3rd symphony is beautifully scored, full of wonderful themes and interesting effects, especially in the strings. Heavily influenced by Resphigi (especially Pines of Rome). Buy it, and forget about the late 6th symphony, when the composer unfortunately switched to the academic I-can-make-weirder-noises-than-you school of composing. Full throttle playing by the orchestra.
