This is a wonderful album, Glenn Gould playing Brahms. An early digital recording, the sound quality is excellent. Gould's interpretation of Brahms is powerful. These are six essential piano pieces by Brahms, and Gould charges them with an intensity & excitement that I have have not heard in other interpretations. His delicacy in the middle section of Ballade #3 (Op 10, #3) stops my breathe. I would recommend this as the first recording one should purchace of these six pieces by Brahms. (For those not acquainted with Glenn Gould, beware: on all six tracks, you will hear the pianist *singing* quietly as he plays.)
