This review is from: Brahms: Complete Hungarian Dances (Audio CD)
Brahms Hungarian Dances were originally composed for piano, 4 hands, but later were orchestrated by various other composers. Brahms orchestrated No's. 1, 3 & 10. Hallen Nos. 2 & 7. Juon No. 4. Parlow Nos. 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16. Gal Nos. 8 & 9. Dvorak Nos. 17, 18, 19, 20 & 21.
I have always loved Brahms Hungarian Dances. The first one I ever owned was No. 3 on a 45rpm vinyl disc & have bought many complete dances over the years. There's not much to say about this disc except that if you don't have a copy of the complete dances, you won't go wrong in purchasing this one. Jarvi & the LSO do them justice. A great CD to pop on, whenever you are feeling low or your spirits need a little boost. |
