" Better than Perlman/Barenboim/Ma's ", May 16, 2009
This review is from: Brahms: Double Concerto/Beethoven: Triple Concerto (Audio CD)
I listened to many these double/triple concertos recordings and this recording is the definite one.
I believe music lovers tend to prefer Perlman's triple because it's more promoted than the Zukerman's. ( Perlman's still in catalogue, Zukerman's out of print and many of his 1990s recordings (RCA) too.
In Perlman version, the three soloists try to show off their playing and it doesn't blend that well, some parts even sound awkward.
On contrary, Zukerman version soloists' sound perfectly fits their parts and blend unbelievably well.
Brahms double concerto..
There are many great Brahms double recordings out there and Zukerman's in the top level.
The two soloists, kirshbaum and Zukerman blend well with each other.
I feel that Zukerman sort of out plays Kirshbaum but still a great recording..
Since it's out of print, get it as soon as possible before it's completely gone on amazon.
