This review is from: Brahms, J.: Trio, Op. 114 / Clarinet Sonatas Nos. 1 And 2 (Steffens, Quandt, Friedlander) (MP3 Download)
This is a wonderful performance of the clarinet trio of Brahms. Too often we are treated to three soloists' idiocynrasies and temperments. In this case this is a well-balanced intelligent performance. The three players appear to be of one mind, and the tempi for all the movements allow the music to unfold naturally. I was especially taken by the subtle lilt of the third movement's Laendler, and just overall by the understanding of the underlying structure of the piece. Wonderful.
