TURN YOUR RAGS TO RICHES WITH BRAIDED RUGS!

If you’re looking for a simple, inexpensive, family-oriented craft, braiding rugs is the answer!  Braided rugs are much like family quilts – each strip of cloth comes from a cast-off garment and tells a story all its own.  Piecing the rug together is an act of weaving family memories and events into an heirloom of handiwork and practicality.  This time-honored craft is an ideal hobby for all ages and makes a wonderful family project that can be completed in a day or as time allows.

Author Nancy Bubel grew up admiring the braided rugs created with loving care by her grandmother.  Her grandmother taught her the braiding technique, and she in turn offers these step-by-step instructions to readers far and wide.  In addition, readers will find tips and advice on choosing fabrics, dyeing cloth, selecting a color scheme, and braiding in a variety of designs and shapes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to read and understand, February 16, 2009
This review is from: Braiding Rugs: A Storey Country Wisdom Bulletin A-03 (Paperback)
I ordered this publication because I was interested in making my own area floor rug using my own materials and colors, etc. This publication tells you how to braid your material, and then how to join into a shape to make a rug. It was a surprise to me that you can actually use the rug as your are making the rug....an idea that never occurred to me, but one that makes sense, especially when it gets very large. I enjoyed the book. Glad I purchased. Denise in Montana

Short, simple, to the point and informative. I can't imagine you need much more information. Not full of fluff like most craft books.

I am very happy with the information in this book. I had done a little rug braiding on my own but just couldn't get it quite right. This book gave me the fine tuning I needed.
