A superb supplement to classroom, home schooling, and even parent's and babysitter's collections,

This review is from: Brain-Based Early Learning Activities: Connecting Theory and Practice (Paperback)
Family child care professional and adjunct college professor Nikki Darling-Kuria presents Brain-Based Early Learning Activities, a collection of educational activities designed to stimulate interest and development in language, mathematics, science, art, motor skills, social skills, music, the environment, and more in children from birth to age 8. Each activity lists the brain connections that the activity supports, multisensory variations, diversity adaptations, and extension activities. Some examples of language-based activities include "Rhyming Scavenger Hunt" (for age 4 years and up) in which children are challenged to talk in rhymes (begin with classic nursery rhymes then have children go on a scavenger hunt to find items that rhyme), and "Flannel Fantasy" (for age 2 years and up) in which children are provided with a flannel surface to use felt pieces on to represent objects and events in a story. A superb supplement to classroom, home schooling, and even parent's and babysitter's collections, Brain-Based Early Learning Activities is highly recommended.

This book has lots of fun activities that you will probably recognize from when you were little or if you have other children. It is full of good ideas for games to play to engage your infant in learning!!

I'm ordering a copy of this for each of my children. It's a terrific resource for my kids and will help them in their parenting and teaching. This book puts ideas into action. The way children learn (and the rest of us for that matter) is explained in a no-nonsense way. The simple things we do every day with our kids can be tweaked to help create maximum learning.
Child development professionals and parents will benefit from this book.

Simplicity at It's Best!,

Nikki's words are simply profound!
As a busy preschool teacher and family child care provider, I like simple things... easily read, easily digested, easily used - like the ideas shared in this book... Suggestions are laid out in a simple manner, which are easy to try and beautifully tied to high level early brain development. Some ideas validated things I was already doing; others offered suggestions that I will definitely try. I loved this book! As an early childhood consultant and fellow author, I am equally excited to know that this resource is available to share. I am excited to see these sophisticated ideas come alive in a form that even the least literate provider can glean! As we all know, that's very hard to do! Simplicity at it's best! |
