5.0 out of 5 stars do everything except the spinning and twirling!

3.0 out of 5 stars Potential Time Killer
In my opinion, many of the mental exercises suggested in Brain Builders fit into the absurd category. Yet there is much of interest. I don't know if any of these exercises will actually improve the brain, or reduce the risk of becoming demented, but many people think so. If you have plenty time to spare, this book may be helpful. But as for this 71 year old man, I'm...

My only purpose for purchasing this book was the obvious one, to become more intelligent. However, the author presents a holistic approach which has improved all aspects of my living. I eat better since I now know the importance diet has on the brain. I also do weird things which the author recommends, like boil water with my gold rings in it and then drink the water. The only thing that I don't recommend doing is the spinning. It's supposed to give your brain a "bath." I get too sick and don't think it's worth doing even to make you smarter.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a great overview of Brain Power, July 22, 1998
By A Customer
Leviton has written a wonderful book on the brain. He gives lots of exercises, nutritional hints, and resources. This is a book you should keep next to you at all times and constantly work with it. I used to get lots of headaches until I read this book. In it Leviton gave questionaires to help determine why I was having headaches. It turns out my brain was not recieving the proper nutrition. I no longer get headaches, it's great

5.0 out of 5 stars A good survey of brain enhancement themes, February 23, 1997
By A Customer
I found this work to be a very comprehensive survey of many current themes in mind/brain development. He gives many practical suggestions so that these can be explored. The most valuable use of the book is, I think, to do the explorations and then to follow up using the references which are provided for each chapter. In general I liked the book's point of view, and enjoyed it most when Leviton let himself comment more fully on the subjects he was surveying. I write this review because I actually do almost all the stuff he writes about - nootropics, mind machines, pranayama, chi gung, sound therapy, brain gym, etc. It has made my life delightful! It was pleasant finding an author who had made the same connections

5.0 out of 5 stars Great companion to "Care and Feeding of Your Brain", July 10, 1999
By A Customer
In writing "The Care and Feeding of Your Brain" I came across good evidence that the mental exercises described in this book can be quite helpful if used regularly. The book is an easy read and much fun! Good Luck!...Ken Giuffre MD ("The Care and Feeding of Your Brain")Career Press 1999.

This book is quite interesting. Make use of whatever suits you. I like a lot of the nutritional information, its looking into different research from all sources, and it had something interesting like encouraging you to spin around like a Sufi to boost your IQ which sounds weird, but who knows:)

I like the excercises and all, but I am very wary of the new age stuff (meditation, etc). Beware of the wiles of lucifer!
