This review is from: Brain Challenge (CD-ROM)
This just came out this year on PC, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, iPod & cell phones (it started out as cell phone game years ago) so the graphics are done well have w/3D especially the Soap Opera actor looking male & female "doctor/coach", though the voice acting is limited & mostly text. The music is fine & the last 10 seconds timer sounds are good at shaking you up.
The games themselves are the best part, hard, but fun & never boring. You get options including for full screen or window, keyboard or mouse. A daily test (mix of several games for overall score) & charts of progress. Training room has Brain Training (4 completely different games in Logic, Math, Memory, Visual & Focus) & Stress Training (3 games in Multitask & 2 in Physical). There are also 3 games in Creative Mode (simple doodle, create your own mazes, sending/seeing colorful fireworks). I've only played it for 40 min, so there is a lot I haven't unlocked so I can't give you a list of all the games, other reviewers have done that. You can see some screen shots on IGN com & their detailed rave reviews for this game on each of the several systems. The only down so far compared to other Brain games I've come across over the years (I never tried Brain Age & don't own the DS) on this game is the harsh comments/criticism of the "doctors" if you get less then a B (even your first time). The music isn't bad, the sound effects for selecting things, etc. are done well. I find it very challenging yet fun to play which is a hard balance to achieve. 6/2009 - After filling up my hard drive, a pc expert friend of mine put in software to mirror the HD onto a new one. Everything worked fine, including all my games & their saved files, except this one, it wanted a key again. This is where I forgot to mention this game only allows FIVE installs, after that, you'll have to buy it again like most new PC games. I emailed Ubisoft w/details, and they did give a link & a code. It works again, but it couldn't find my save file even though it's in the default folder, so I have to START ALL OVER AGAIN w/games LOCKED AGAIN. I'm not sure what DRM they use, it's not SecuROM or Starforce luckily (known to make cd/dvds inoperable). If I had known this, I would have bought it on another platform. Take off 3 stars if your idea of buying a game means you get to play it as long as don't lose the disc. You can also buy it on Big Fish games which, similar to Amazon download games validates you by logging on, as long as the site exists, you're fine. (A+ rating on BBB) This game has also been released on all platforms: Nintendo Wii's Wiiware download & DS, Iphone & Ipod touch, PS3 download & PSP, Xbox 360 download. There are video clips of game play on youtube.

Helped my Literati Game,

I've been playing this game on the Wii. It really does help improve your thinking. I'm up to 60% brain usage after about a month of playing. For some reason, as a side benefit, I get 3-4 bingos per game when I play literati (a game on yahoo!) now. My 61 year old mom plays brain challenge and it's helped improve her mental sharpness. I recommend it for everyone over 8 years old (some of the math and logic games would be hard for younger kids). It only takes 5-10 minutes a day and is well worth your time.

Brain Challenge,
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Brain Challenge (CD-ROM)
While the games are worth using for someone wanting to test themselves or their children, the movement of the arrow or cursor is way slower than your response to move it, making the evaluation come up poor. When I completed the tests with a grade of 100% I was still given a "D" and a comment of "Oh No, were you feeling yourself today?" making it look like it was a bad day and grade. This would not be good for any child trying to play it. I would not buy this game due to the response time and the scoring.
