I used two previous and more expensive boil and shape mouth guards specific for mild sleep apnea. Neither offered as much breathing area or stability as this unit. The fitting process was easy. I had to do a little trimming at the molar area but the unit comes marked just for that purpose. The microbial case is a bonus. Overall a great value.

$26 is a premium to pay for what is essentially a piece of soft plastic. But I do value my teeth and my brain, so I spared no expense. I do have an everlast mouthguard that cost $5 as comparison.

The Brain pad is made of a soft plastic like most others. It's quite a bit softer than the Everlast. There is a 1/8 thick rubbery insert at the back of the mouthguard which serves to cushion the jaw from a major blow. Comes with a case and 2 straps. Good documentation. The Everlast does not have the cushion in the back. From a logical stand point it seems the Brain pad offers more protection.

There are downsides to having the cushion in the back - it gaps your jaw a bit more. Not a huge deal, just a bit different.

The reason I have to give it one star is after one hour of trying to fit the darn thing, I simply could not get it fitted. Followed directions word for word. The plastic is so soft that the sides often fold onto itself, you have to push it back out and restart. Even after what I felt was a good fitting procedure, there is still a major gap between the front of the guard and both my top and bottom teeth. No matter what I tried, 1/4 inch gap is the closest I can get the front of the guard to my teeth. It simply won't mold. My everlast was a perfect fit front and back. I feel that if I get hit, the Brain pad will definitely fly out. Perhaps others may have better luck with the fit, but this item simply isn't made for me.

Luckily, Amazon was able to take the return! 5 stars to Amazon for sticking up for the customer.
